SUMMARY OF 58-PAGE REPORT: CONTACT US TO SUBSCRIBE

An August Trip to Nigeria: Fruitful Meetings. We visited Lagos and
Abuja last month—and met with companies and regulators at every
stage of Nigeria’s power sector. Our mission: to find out what progress they are making in moving the sector past the precarious operational and financial state they found at privatization.
Companies in This Report:

Conclusion: Sector Problems Being Tackled, One by One. Many believe Nigeria’s privatized power sector has encountered nothing but
trouble. We believe the biggest challenges--namely, insufficient gas
and the delay in entering the new regulatory framework, leading to
lack of system liquidity—are being solved. Strong, well-financed, and
innovative companies are incentivized to deliver more gas. And regulators are close to taking the next step.

Success in the Power Sector Is Transformational. Rather than being
hyped, we believe the impact of power reform on Nigeria is actually
understated. Industries with access to power can hire people and
make things, but that’s not news. It is increasingly apparent to us
that Nigerians are in the midst of a major shift in attitude. People
have a new approach to change: It happened in power, it happened
in agriculture, so it can happen anywhere. With 170 million people in
what is already Africa’s largest economy, momentum in Nigeria could
become a powerful force for investors.
We Can Save You Time and Money. Even if you don’t invest or do
business yet in Africa, the continent’s growth matters to your business. Demand is soaring, competition is already intense, and
longstanding barriers to business are being dismantled. Our research can make your job easier. We’ve been to Africa over 30 times
since 2007, hosting over 1,200 meetings and building a robust network. We package our knowledge into highly readable, well-organized and detailed research reports. Contact us to subscribe, to discuss an advisory arrangement, or to discuss other services.

AFRICAN SUNRISE PARTNERS CAN SAVE YOU TIME AND MONEY
We’ve done the
tough groundwork,
so you don’t have to
We have extensive knowledge to share with clients. We go to Africa 4-6 times per
year—over 30 trips since 2007. We meet with business owners, corporate managers, government decision-makers, and many other sources. We package all of this
knowledge into highly readable, well-organized, and detailed research reports, which
are available to clients via subscription or through an advisory arrangement. We
write for busy, experienced investors and executives who want an independent point
of view based on first-hand research.
Established markets
and new-frontier
coverage
We cover many countries and sectors. Kenya and Nigeria are our principal anchors,
but we add new countries each year (13 so far). We’ve gone far out into the frontier—
South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ethiopia are on our travel itinerary—but we spend most of our time looking at larger, more investable markets.
Sector coverage includes industrials/infrastructure, power, consumer, financial services, agriculture, and technology/communications.
Global perspective
you need
Our work factors in global trends and experience. We have over 25 years of global
research experience—including a front-row seat watching the emergence of new
economies in Eastern Europe and China. We closely follow the activities of companies from China, Turkey, Brazil, and the Middle East in Africa.
How to Work With Us
More than just the
broad themes
We help globally sophisticated investors and executives make better-informed decisions. We quickly bring the conversation down from broad-based generalities to a
discussion of on-the-ground, direct business impact. Some service options:

to have a long shelf life. We publish 8-10 new reports each year. Our price is


Access: Our network includes over 5,000 contacts. Tap into our knowledge
base or join one of our investor/corporate trips to the continent.

Open forum: We speak regularly on a variety of topics at seminars, conferences, and other gatherings. Bring us in for a fresh, candid perspective.

Matchmaking: Deal introduction on a retainer and success fee basis.
