ABOUT
Jamia Millia Islamia came into existence in1920 through the tireless efforts of its
founders, such as Shaikhul Hind Maulana Mahmud Hasan, Maulana Muhammad
Ali Jauhar, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Ansari, Jenab Abdul Majeed
Khwaja and Dr. Zakir Husain. It symbolizes the unflinching and resolute
commitment of these great visionaries in bringing about socio-economic
transformation of common masses, in general, and Muslims, in particular through
the vehicle of education. The distinct identity of Jamia Millia Islamia has been
eloquently explicated by Dr. Zakir Husain Sahib, and I quote,
“the movement of Jamia Millia Islamia is a struggle for education and cultural
renaissance. It will prepare a blueprint for Indian Muslims which may focus on
Islam but simultaneously evolve a national culture for common Indian. It will lay
the foundation of the thinking that true religious education will promote patriotism
and national integration among Indian Muslims, who will be proud to take part in
the future progress of India, which will play its part in the comity of nations for
peace and development. The objective of establishment of Jamia Millia Islamia
will be to lay down the common curriculum for Indian Muslims taking into account
the future challenges and will prepare the children to be masters of future”.
In view of special status of Jamia Millia Islamia in our country, we need to
deliberate upon reconstituting the academic programmes through introduction of
Choice-based Credit System, discuss suitable examination and administrative
reforms and consider use of international benchmarks, such as Citation index,
Journal Impact factor etc. for evaluating the quality of our research. I also exhort
all the faculty members to formulate research project proposals either singly or in
collaboration with other researchers of this or other institutions for financial
support by the national and international funding agencies.
Apart from strengthening the teaching-learning process, research and extension
programmes, special focus on extracurricular, sports and other similar activities to
foster global competencies among the students is our priority.
Let us work collectively and systematically to promote growth of this institution
and make it the first choice of students.

OUR HISTORY
On November 5, 1852, a dozen eminent civil engineers gathered at the
Croton Aqueduct in New York City in the office of Chief Engineer Alfred W.
Craven to establish the American Society of Civil Engineers and Architects.
In 1868, a few years after architects had formed a professional society of
their own, ASCE adopted its current name. For the first 144 years of its
existence, ASCE maintained its headquarters in New York City, relocating
six times to progressively larger facilities. In 1996, ASCE moved to its
current global headquarters in Reston, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.

with the efficacy of knowledge,intelligence and skills establish the civilization. The
Department of Civil Engineering,Facultyof Engg. and Technology, Jamia Millia
Islamia,which came into existence in the year 1985, has thereafter worked and aimed
for educational excellency, charting the history of accomplishments of the students
excelling in diversified field of interest. Our students are ever brimming with
enthusiasm. Until now, the college is leading in disseminating quality technical
education to its students through a reputed faculty indulged in research and
consultancy works and greatly furnished departments.
The Department of Civil Engineering has laboured hard on providing education
on practical grounds to make its students more abler for real world competition.I catch
great gladness in declaring the debut formation of American Society of Civil
Engineers,JMI Student's Chapter as an endeavour to cement the bond amongst the
rising CIVIL ENGINEERS. I wish to congratulate the team of students,who sparked
the vision of bringing this student's chapter into existence. Hopefully, the techno-gems
around the globe will find our forthcoming fest " AZIMUTH " worth enjoying. I wish
them all the success.

Jamia Millia Islamia is a Central University which is ranked 'A' by NAAC.
The universiy seeks to foster a national and cosmopolitan perspective in is
academic programs. The university is an ensemble of a multi-layered
edcational system which covers all aspects of education.
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology was established in 1985
with the objective to provide outstanding engineering education directed at
enriching the quality of life in an emerging knowledge based society. The
Department of Civil Engineering is one of the oldest and the largest
department in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
The Department of Civil Engineering strives to provide rigorous
hands-on Civil Engineering education integrated with research and
innovation in cost effective and sustainable technologies with a human
face for modernization ofthe nation in global perspective.
The department is known for its reputed faculty members with
expertise in diverse fields.They are actively indulged in reserch and
consultancy work and providing a conducive environmentto motivate
students to learn and excel in every field.
The start of student's chapter of ASCE shall provide a platform to work
with young energetic and innovative students who are ready to accept the
challenge of tomorrow.

have to do, to explore and discover a
Monument/Structure...but unlike treasure hunt, it's
technical!!
It means got to mug up some formulae. So it's the
time to discover your legacy.
BITZER
Bitzer turns on its head in that where most other
events seek to simplify a complex problem, this
requires you to enthrall the judges and the audience
with your ability to convolute the most simplest of
actions with an infinite array of steps and to bring up
the hacker inside you!!
BRIDGE DESIGNER
PROJECT EXPO
Make your drawings come true and efficient.
Design a bridge with the help of US based
software. You do make your truss bridges and we
will test the stability of it. Explore the civil engineer
inside you. Remember, Imagination is your only
limit!!
The 'Project Expo' desires to import notions and
newness from the students of all fraternities, to
provide them a platform to advertise their
productions to highbrowed and inventive minds
and a mode to argue about these creations with
them.
JENGA
Main aim of this event is to check the creativity
and judgmental soundness of participants. Using
your positioning and balancing skills, you have to
keep increasing height of the stack without
making it fall.
ARCHIPEDIA
Archipedia includes the examination and
inspection of our historical monuments. Dose of
serious maintenance is what our monuments
require, which alone may be helped by your
reports of examination. Archipedia will surely aid
the best entry to have a platform so as to
showcase their inferences.
TECH-X-BIT
This event calls for the technical paper
presentation where u get a chance to boast your
technical powers and innovation through your
courage to present the research paper and mass
scale dissemination of your views .It will prove gyri
and sulci of your brain.
