To initiate faculty members within HEIs into the research process as well as stimulate and enhance their research capabilities through training/workshops, mentoring, and collaborative research; 3. To assist faculty members in undertaking researches responsive to the program thrust for in-house and/or external (national, international) funding other than CHED; and, 4. To complement or fill gaps in the research agenda of allied agencies like NEDA, DA, and others. The USM CHED-ZRC assisted NEDA Region XII in crafting its research direction and agenda. USM CHED ZRC was member of the steering and assigned to chair the program, invitation and paper committees. The following responsibilities were undertaken and accomplished: - evaluated papers for oral and poster presentation - prepared program of activities - identified and invited plenary speakers - prepared a template for certificate of participation and plaque of appreciation; - facilitated best paper and poster awards. National Research and Development Conference with theme “Way Forward for Research and Development in HEIs”, Grand Regal Hotel , Davao City, attended 125 participants.
