Short Story Illustration Assignment
From the short stories we have read in class, choose one to make a 6-8
scene illustration book on. Short Stories we have read thus far include:
The Veldt, X: A Fabulous Child’s Story, Wish You Were Here.
 Title page needs to have the name of the story, the author, and an
appropriate illustration that depicts the story as a whole.
 The illustrations should be on separate pages, and not on the back of a
page.
 Each page should include a well written summary paragraph(s) that
explain the details of the scene you have chosen to illustrate. (See
rubric for details)
 By reading and looking at the illustrations, someone that has not read
the text should be able to get an idea as to what the story is about,
what the main events/conflicts are, and who the main characters
in the story may be.
 Laptops will be provided to type the summaries if necessary and
wanted.
 You do not need to be an amazing artist to get a good mark on this
assignment, try your best, be creative and follow the rubric provided!
 *Illustrations can include hand drawn pictures, magazine cut-outs
(collage type material), and computer illustrations.
 This does not mean you can “google” a whole
scene that may fit your story and use it as your
own. If using the computer you must import
images and make it your own.
 Lastly, have fun creating your masterpiece!!!
**Improper computer use will mean you no longer have computer
privileges for the assignment!
