Council’s Library Services provides a full range of public library services to library members and community
members. Our Libraries contain lending collections in all formats, for all ages including books, magazines,
DVDs and online databases. We also provide a program of learning activities for all ages, public internet
access and local history services. Our services extend to our customers with special needs and include
mobile and home library services, special collections and Indigenous services.
The Digital Library traineeship position in Library Services recognises that libraries are moving more and
more into the online environment. At the end of your twelve month traineeship you will have gained
knowledge, skills and experience of the public library environment. You will be based in the Library Operations
Support team but work in all sections of the Library to develop the library’s existing online presence, as well as
developing content for new online services and resources. You will assist in providing customer service to a
diverse range of library users. You will also gain an insight into other sections of council.
To be successful in this role you will need to be people oriented, and enjoy helping customers of all ages in a
team environment. You will possess creative digital photography and video skills, excellent oral and written
communication skills and be proficient with computers and digital photography and video software with the
ability to learn new technologies quickly. You also need to be able to work logically, accurately and neatly and
have good organising skills.
Please note: There is a requirement for this role:

to work at all Library Services locations City, Aitkenvale and Thuringowa Central.

to work evenings and weekends.

English and Maths.
