This three year placement would expose the successful candidate to a variety of engineering areas in the Programs and Technical Support section (PATS), including Water, Waste Water, Waste and the Development team of PATS. Under the guidance and supervision of the various areas Senior Engineers, the role is to assist the Senior Engineers, Project Managers and the Project Engineers with the delivery of specific projects assigned as well as the provision of engineering designs and technical advice on planning, design and delivery of water, wastewater and waste projects. The Programs and Technical Support section plans, designs and delivers capital projects, and provides technical advice to Townsville Water and Waste operations, related to water, wastewater and waste infrastructure, and other areas of council. SELECTION CRITERIA >> ESSENTIAL Professional qualification (Degree) in Civil or Environmental Engineering or acceptable equivalent and eligibility to apply for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia. Developing technical skills in the design of water, wastewater and waste infrastructure. Well-developed time management and prioritising skills, and ability to work under general direction. Good written communication skills in English as characterised by the application of specialist knowledge to the production of professional reports and external correspondence. Intermediate skills and experience in computer analysis and software, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite of applications such as Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook. Basic to good knowledge and understanding of current statutory requirements and engineering standards and principles of water, waste and wastewater infrastructure.
