Promises
In this film, you will meet 7 Palestinian and Israeli children who live only 20
miles apart but yet are separated by historical, emotional and physical
boundaries. In your conflict assessment, many of you proposed solutions where
the sides talked with one another. In this film, you will see 7 children who did
that.
However, this conflict is still unresolved, there are five outstanding issues:
Jerusalem; the Israeli settlements; the security of Israel; the right of return
and resources. As you watch the film take notes about these issues from the
film. Also, make a note of any ideas to resolve the conflict and note who said
it, a Palestinian (P) or an Israeli (I).
The children are:
 Yarko and Daniel – secular Israeli twin boys living in Jerusalem
 Faraj – a Palestinian refugee boy living in the Deheishe Refugee Camp
 Sanabel - a Palestinian refugee girl living in the Deheishe Refugee Camp
 Shlomo – an ultra-orthodox Jewish boy living in the Jewish Quarter of Old
Jerusalem
 Mahmoud – a Palestinian boy living in East Jerusalem
 Moishe and sister Raheli living in the Beit El Settlement in the West Bank
