WHO IS FDA?
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is one of the Nation’s oldest and most respected consumer protection agencies.
Simply stated it’s mission is to :
 To promote and protect the public health by helping safe and effective products reach the market in a timely
way
 To monitor products for continued safety after they are in use
 To help the public get the accurate, science-based information needed to improve health
Every day, every American comes in contact with a host of FDA-regulated products. In fact, FDA-regulated products
account for about 25 cents of every consumer dollar spent. Regulated products include: Food, Cosmetics, Biologics,
Human Drugs, Veterinary Products, Medical Devices, Radiation Emitting Electronic Products, and Tobacco Products.
The FDA is looking for individuals with Science Based Degrees:
Biologist: a degree in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry or related
disciplines.
Microbiologist: a degree in microbiology; or other related disciplines with 20 semester units of microbiology
Chemist: a degree in physical sciences life sciences or engineering that includes 30 semester hours in
chemistry
Entomologist: A degree in entomology or related discipline with at least 16 semester hours in entomology.
Requirements of the position:





Must be a U.S. citizen
This position has a minimum education requirement
Will be required to complete a background investigation
Must operate a motor vehicle safely and possess a valid driver’s license
Will be required to travel up to 50% of the time.
