lknt.com website.
Category Overview: Wood blinds are a natural looking
product allowing the customer to control the amount of light
that enters the room many different ways including tilting and
lifting. Consumers prefer woods because they are trying to
match existing finishes in their home such as cabinetry,
flooring, furniture, etc for great coordination, matching and
blending in the room.
Faux wood blind purchases are traditionally inspired by the
environmental aspects of the room, such as humidity and
moisture. Faux wood also may be the most economical
choice for a consumer. This collection has been so popular
that it recently was awarded the 2009 WCMA (Window
Covering Manufacturer’s Association) Product Innovation
Award for Best Enhanced Style Concept.
Step 1: Choose real wood or faux wood. There are three different types of materials that can be used in
the construction of a wood blind. These materials are Premium Real Wood, Composite NuWood™, and
Visions™ Faux Wood. Below are each of the material types and their benefits:
 Premium Real Wood – All decors will be enhanced with the irresistible beauty and elegance of
Levolor™’s Premium Real Wood Blinds. Our slats are constructed from fine hand-selected
wood and finished with the largest array of stains, paints and textures in the market. We
designed these blinds to blend with the customer’s flooring, furniture, cabinetry and
other existing wood finishes in the home. Premium Real Wood is the lightest and most rigid
of all materials. Customers also have the widest variety of finishes, slat sizes, price points and
options when selecting Premium Real Wood. Levolor® Premium Real Wood offers everything
from the high-end Estate Collection to the opening price point, Classic™ Real Wood value
collection. The Estate Collection is our finest real wood offering to date. As with the finest
furnishings, these finishes offer unique textures and grains reflecting exquisite
craftsmanship/furniture quality finishes. Hand-selected and designed to complement and blend
with the customer’s luxury furnishings, Estate is our finest collection and is certain to be the
crowning touch to any space. Next, we have our Premium Real Wood Stain Collection. The
specially selected stains and wood grains of this collection are designed to harmonize with many
furnishing, flooring, cabinetry and trim finishes. From maple to cherry to pecan tones, this
collection has it all. The third collection is our Premium Real Wood Paint Collection. This light
and airy collection is designed to complement detailed wood finishes in the home from crown

molding to window frames. We painstakingly prepare each slat with multiple coats of the highest
quality paints to produce a blind which resists scratching and keeps its new look. Finally, we
offer our Classic™ Real Wood Collection. This collection is perfect for the customer who aspires
to the look of real wood, but has a budget. Quality made and constructed, this collection offers
the most popular finishes. When speaking about our wood program in the terms of “Best, Better,
Good” each collection breaks down into the following ratings:


Composite NuWood™ – When a customer wants the beauty and warmth of real wood grain in
an environment not conducive to the real thing, Composite NuWood™ is the perfect choice.
NuWood™ has revolutionary slats that are engineered with the look and feel of wood but with
advanced properties designed to resist intense sun and moisture/humidity. These slats are
lighter weight than a traditional faux wood. This lighter weight enables wider ladder spacing
which leads to a cleaner view of the outside. Composite NuWood™ is ideal for rooms with full
sun exposure because the nature of the material prevents bowing and warping. This resistance
to the effects of intense sun sets NuWood™ apart from PVC Faux Wood blinds. Rooms with
potential for high humidity and moisture such as kitchens, baths and garages are also ideal for
NuWood™. NuWood™ was designed to match with our Premium Real Wood finishes for a
whole-house coordinated look. NuWood™ also boasts a rigid outer casing that protects the slat
from gouging and denting and a valance that coordinates with those of the Premium Real Wood
product.

Visions™ Faux Wood – Levolor® Visions™ is a PVC product. By using PVC material,
Visions™ resists humidity and moisture. Visions™ is a perfect solution for bathrooms and other
extreme humidity/moisture applications. Price Group 2 of Visions™ is a premium Faux Wood
blind with the look and feel of real wood to coordinate and match other real wood finishes in the
home. Price Group 2 of Visions™ Faux Wood directly matches Visions™ Faux Wood Vertical
Blinds for whole house coordination of both large and small windows.

Step 2: Choose your slat size and finish. The next step in the selling process is having the customer
choose their finish and slat size.


2 ½” Slat Size – 2 ½” is ideal for larger windows or those with increased depth and provides a
cleaner field of view through the window. 2 ½” is available in 16 of the most popular finishes in
the Premium Real Wood Collections. Wide-slat is also available in 5 Visions™ Faux Wood
finishes. Also, fewer slats mean a smaller stack in the customer’s window when the blind is
raised.
2” Slat Size – This is our most popular slat size as it is very traditional and looks beautiful in all
window sizes. All materials; Premium Real Wood, Composite NuWood™, and Visions™ Faux
Wood are available in the 2” slat size. Regarding finish choices, customers may choose from
the following:
o 2” Premium Real Wood - The customer may choose from the widest selection in the
market of furniture quality finishes in 4 distinct collections. The high quality of paints and
stains used by Levolor® will minimize any fading concerns. Some of our higher end
options are only offered in real wood. In addition to the Premium Real Wood Stains and
Paints Collections, Levolor® also offers the Estate Premium Real Wood collection. Our
Estate collection matches up with luxury home furnishings. Inspiration for our new Estate
collection came from several near-neighbor industries and retailers, including Lowe’s, The
Home Depot and JC Penney.
o 2” Composite NuWood™ - NuWood™ is available in 12 updated, Premium Real Wood
matching finishes.
o 2” Visions™ Faux Wood – This material is available in 16.
1” Slat Size – 1” is perfect for French Doors, small windows and windows with narrow opening
depths. This slat size is the smallest available and can only be ordered on Premium Real Wood
blinds. 1” is available in the 14 most popular finishes in the Premium Real Wood Stains and
Paints Collections.

Real Wood, Composite NuWood™ and Visions™ Faux Wood blinds?
Step 3: Choose your options and upgrades. The third and final step in the selling process is directing
the customer to choose their options and upgrades. Levolor® is making selling options and upgrades
extremely easy by incorporating our Technical Guide right in the back of the sample book. This means
that nearly all FAQs about size minimums and maximums, option availability, etc. are found in the Wood
Blind Sample Book. This upgraded book will make selling options and upgrades easy as you don’t need to
consult a separate price guide or MSRP. Some of Levolor®’s industry leading options are:
 Cordless - Levolor®’s award winning cordless lift system solution offers clean lines and a
contemporary look. Total adjustability of the shade is available with no external lift cords. The
effect is an easy to use blind that is modern, clean and sophisticated in appearance. Cordless
blinds always come standard with our LightMaster™ feature and wand tilt. LightMaster™ gives
the customer unprecedented light control and privacy. Light control is increased as there are no
holes in the middle of the slat. Cleanability is easier as slat can be completely removed and
wiped clean. The cordless lift system should be considered for all homes, particularly those with
children or pets as the elimination of external lift cords makes operation safer. As the inventor of
cordless technology, Levolor® is the market leader in dependable, easy and time-tested

operation. The cordless system employs spring tension technology. The positioning of the
cordless motors in the center of the headrail allow for a lifetime of balanced operation. Weights
act as a counter-balance to ensure that the blind will stay at the desired level with just the touch
of a finger.
LightMaster™ - This upgrade offers increased light control and a safeguard to privacy with
tighter closure of the slats. Eliminating the rout holes blocks light and prevents outside ‘see
through’. With our double notched design, the slats stay in place when raising and lowering the
blind and when cleaning. The customer can choose between standard rout holes and the
Levolor® LightMaster™ option. All Levolor® Wood blinds, excluding 1” Premium Real Wood, can
be made with the LightMaster™ feature vs. standard route holes. 2” Cordless Premium Real
Wood blinds come standard with LightMaster™.
Twill Tapes – Twill tapes are available in both solid and decorative patterns to accent the blinds
or coordinate with the customer’s upholstery and textiles while increasing privacy. Twill tapes
are available on all Levolor® 1” and 2” blinds. The 1” slat size will be constructed with ¾” width
tapes only. On 2” slat size blinds, the customer may choose between a ¾” tape, for a more
modern look, and a 1 ½” tape, for more traditional decors. ¾’ tapes are also recommended for
Visions™ Faux Wood blinds, as Faux Wood blinds have more vertical ladders for stability and
therefore, more tapes will be shown. By selected the ¾” tape, customers can eliminate half of
the actual fabric used on the tapes, resulting in a cleaner appearance. Tapes coordinate with
Levolor® Cellular shades for room to room coordination. It is critical to note that ladder spacing
is very important when it comes to cloth tapes, as each ladder is covered with a vertical tape.
Be sure to check the ladder count chart in the Technical Guide in the back of the Levolor® Wood
Book before ordering this product.
Radius Corners – All Levolor® Premium Wood blinds, excluding those with the cordless option
or finishes from the Classic Collection, may be finished with radius or rounded corners for a
softer appearance.
Tilt Options – While a wand tilt is standard on all 2” Cordless Premium Wood and 1” Premium
Wood products, cord tilt is standard on all other products. Customers choosing other 2” woods
can select a wand tilt or a cord tilt. Wand tilts reduce the number of cords, providing a more
modern look. Cord tilts, offer a 10% tighter closure and a more traditional look. A customer
choosing the 2 ½” Wood slat size cannot choose a wand tilt.
Valances – When customers are ordering 2” or 2 ½” Premium Real Wood blinds, they may
choose between the clean, Modern valance and the more ornate, Traditional valance at no
additional charge. Both valances are 3” high-profile for a luxurious and striking finished look.
Cornice Program – The Levolor® Cornice program features two distinct profiles to complement
any home décor. The Rope profile is traditional, while the Dentil profile is more modern. Both
cornices are crafted from premium hardwoods with a fine furniture quality finish, are offered in
seven popular finishes and feature mitered corners. Each Cornice has an available dust cover
on outside mount applications to protect operating mechanisms. Several mounting options are
available.
2-on-1 and 3-on-1 Headrail, Cutouts,– Multiple blinds on one headrail provide the flexibility of
raising one blind while keeping the other lowered on extra wide windows, such as patio doors.
Two or three blinds on one headrail are available up to a total maximum width of 144”. Standard
October 2009
innerspace is ½” between blinds. Cutouts allow access to air conditioners, window cranks, etc.
Center and side cutouts are available. A diagram may be required for production. This option is
available on 2” and 1” Premium Wood only.
Installation, Care and Cleaning - All Levolor® wood blinds come with all-steel brackets and mounting
hardware included. Levolor® uses a universal box style bracket for all wood products making installation
and removal quick and easy. Maintenance for Levolor® wood blinds couldn’t be easier. The blinds should
be periodically wiped with a soft cloth, a dusting mitt or the brush attachment from a vacuum. Do not use
water, solvents or abrasive solutions as this can cause damage to the blind. Blinds with the LightMaster™
feature may be removed for cleaning. Slide out the slat, wipe clean and return to the slat to the original
position. You may wipe our non-natural wood collections of Composite NuWood™ and Visions™ Faux
Wood with a lightly dampened cloth.
