The Fashion Group International of Dallas®, Inc announces a substantial increase in this
year’s scholarships being awarded at Dallas Career Day 2007, Friday, April 30, 2007:

Over $32,000 is to be awarded in scholarships and awards in this important annual,
daylong educational outreach event attended by 1,000 students from nearly 40 colleges and
universities. FGI of Dallas, in collaboration with the Texas Department of Agriculture
Food & Fibers Research Commission present the scholarships each year.

The Fashion Group International of Dallas scholarship funds represent a 100%
increase over recent years.

A new competition has been added in 2007Merchandising Excellence Competition
presented by DAVACO, Inc. Kenneth Cole Reaction collaborated with DAVACO, Inc. to
create a real-world merchandising assignment for students to submit recommended solutions
via concept boards.

Two scholarships to study in Paris, valued at nearly $10,000, will be presented by the
Paris American Academy to students receiving the Natural Fibers Best of Show and the
FGI of Dallas Design Laureate Awards.
Career Day Features12th Floor, World Trade Center:

Opening Keynote Address by Dallas Designer, Michael Faircloth: 8:00–9:00 AM

Lunch Keynote Address by Wende Zomnir, Executive Creative Director of Urban Decay
Cosmetics and University of North Texas Alumni: 12:20 – 1PM

14 Educational Seminars offered throughout the day, presented by Dallas industry leaders.

Career Resources Exhibition where students can learn about internships and job
opportunities and submit their resumes to corporate recruiters including JC Penney,
Nordstrom, Elle Jewelry & Watches, DAVACO, Inc., Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus
Direct.
Career Day culminates with a Fashion Show, produced by Jan Strimple, featuring the Student
Design Competition garments, 3:00 - 4:30PM, Grand Pavilion of the Trade Mart
Target Audience:
 Entirety of Career Day: College and university students who are interested in pursuing
careers in the fashion and lifestyle industriesbeauty, accessories, retail and home décor.
 Fashion Show and Awards Presentation: Open to the general public, including high
school students interested in fashion and lifestyle industry careers.

Background:
 FGI of Dallas Career Day 2007 is a one-day educational outreach event created to mentor
and develop tomorrow’s leaders and entrepreneurs in the fashion and lifestyle industries.
 In its 39th year, FGI of Dallas Career Day is the largest and longest-running event of its
kind in the U.S. and among all FGI Regions worldwide.

FGI of Dallas Chapter, in recognition of its contribution and excellence in hosting FGI of
Dallas Career Day, received the FGI Educational Outreach Merit Award in 2002 and 2003.

 College Students: Walk-up registration is available for students at $55. Register in lobby of
2050 Stemmons Freeway at 7:00 am, Friday, April 20th. Registration includes the day's
activities and a box lunch.
 General public, including high school students interested in a career in fashion, can attend
the Design Competition Fashion Show and Awards Presentation, 3:00 – 4:30 pm. Tickets
may be purchased the day of the event in the lobby of the Trade Mart, 2100 Stemmons
Freeway, for $20.00, 2:30 - 3:00 pm.
 A Dallas Career Day 2007 highlights and fashion show DVD is available for purchase at
$30.00 at the event or by calling the FGI of Dallas office at 214.634.0204.
