Monday, September 24, 2007 UNT's One O'Clock Lab Band brings it to UTD It'll be a real gas, man. BY JOHN P. MEYER The internationally renowned University of North Texas One O'Clock Lab Band (affectionately and appreciatively referred to as "The One") has been jazzing things up in North Texas since 1947. The ensemble brings their 18 karat crazy cool scene to the University of Texas at Dallas this Friday (Sept. 28), where they will perform at 8 p.m. in the Dallas Conference Center. Neil Slater, jazz man After touring such places as Finland, Germany, Portugal, France, Thailand, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Japan and Russia, plain ol' Dallas (well, Richardson, actually) may seem pretty mundane to these guys, but that won't stop them from fracturing the crowd of squares who turn out to groove on their supermurgitroid licks. (Ahem.) Fearless leader Neil Slater will direct the group through their funky Bose-bouncin' program to ensure they don't train wreck, so all involved will experience nothin' but wail. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $10 for students and free at the door to UT Dallas students with a valid Comet Card. Call 972-883-2552 to purchase tickets in advance, and for additional information swing your zoot on over here (http://ah.utdallas.edu/season0708/labband.htm). See you cool cats there.
