Love and Basket ball is a film like no other. There are so many issuessuch as love and drama that
were conquered in this film. Starring actors Monica (Sanaa Lathan) and Quincy (Omar Epps).
They both had a passion for basketball and found a great passion for eachother along the way.
They are from Baldwin Hills and both like to enjoy ball, however their friendship since they
were little kids had turned into something more serious. They graduate out of high school and
both got accepted to go to USC College to go play. Quincy had major problems with his family
and so did Monica. They both came from two different household but the same world and
understand how one feels. But when Quincy needed Monica to fix his pain, dealing with family
issues, and she wasn’t there. This turned into a disaster that leads the relationship between the
two to fall and rise. However once it rose, both of their dreams were fulfilled and Monica went
onto the NBA. This lead to a happy ending.
In the past the producer Spike Lee has produced great films like Romeo and Juliet, Hoops and
Dreams etc... It seems that this film was predictable and when you watch a movie and you
predict whets going to happen every time it can seem a little boring. It takes so much away from
the movie. I would characterize the genre of the movie as love and romance.
Sana Lathan has played in a lot of movies starting from her first movie “Drive” that came out in
1977, the action movie Blade 1998, she played in two comedy/ drama films “The Wood” 1999,
and “Catfish in Black Bean Sauce” 1999, “The Smoker” 2000, “Love and Basketball” 2000, and
the list goes on and on she has always been a good actress. Lathan has a lot of experience and
always brings out the best in her.
Omar Epps has also been known for his acting every since his first movie Juice which starred in
1992, then he played in “The Program” in 1933, “Higher Learning” in 1995, he appeared in
movie “Scream 2” in 1997, “The Wood” 1999 and “In Too Deep” 2000 etc… he amazes me on
what role he will play in next.
Lanthan and Epps made the film Love and Basketball a real romantic love story. I give props to
Lee for the actors he used in this film. They really brought a lot to their characters and you can
tell by watching this film. This is a good film to watch with someone you love or been in love
with. I would rate this movie a 9 out of 10 stars. I would recommend people mostly around the
young age to go out and pay to see this movie because it is really worth the while!!!

work on your opinion statements. Try to insert more and then use examples from the movie to
support them. Also, becareful of fragmented sentences or awkward wording.
