Birth:

Cronos feared his children would
kill him, so he swallowed the first
five of Rhea’s babies.
Rhea hid Zeus; together they
tricked Cronos and made him
vomit up his children
They fought a war and Zeus
became king

his head open, and Athene burst
out

 Arachne bragged that she weaved
better than Athena
 Athena almost killed her, then
challenged her to a contest
 Arachne wove beautiful scenes of
everyday, mortal life
 Athene wove the clouds into
fearsome, awesome scenes of
Olympus; she won
 Arachne hung herself in shame
 Athene turned her into a spider
