MARK YOUR CALENDERS:
 Senior Awards Ceremony: Friday, June 6th at 8:15am at the Ridgewood Avenue
Auditorium! If your son or daughter is receiving an award or scholarship, you will
be notified by mail the week prior.
 Final Exams: begin Friday, June 13 through Wednesday, June 18th.
 Graduation: Friday, June 20th at 7:00pm..yeah!!
SCHOLARSHIPS: NEW PROCEDURE THIS YEAR!!! All scholarships are posted on the
district website! Go to glenridge.org > high school page > Guidance Tab > scholarships.

SENIORS:
For those of you applying to college, at this point you should have completed the
following:
 Please be sure to complete and return the Senior Questionnaire (goldenrod
colored form). This form is very important for future college advisement and lets
us know where to send your final transcript!!
 GOOD LUCK with your future endeavors!
 Financial Aid information can be found at www.finaid.org,
www.studentaid.ed.gov and www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Selective Service:
U.S. law requires that all qualified males, 18 years or older, must be registered for
selective service. Men who register with Selective Service remain eligible for
important programs and benefits linked to registration, including student loans
and grants for college, employment by the federal government and many state
programs, vocational job training, and U.S. citizenship. Forms may be obtained in
the Attendance Office.
JUNIORS:
 The Guidance Department has begun individual post high school planning and
college advisement sessions. If you have not already done so, make an
appointment with your School Counselor.
 SATs and ACTs: This is the time of year to begin considering taking the SATs
and/or ACTS. Visit www.collegeboard.org or www.act.org for test dates and
deadlines. See your School Counselor for assistance. Consider taking the Subject
Tests; visit the web-site for dates and deadlines.
 SAT/ACT Prep: explore course options at www.SimpleTuition.com/TestPrep
 FAIR TEST: Many schools no longer require ACTs or SATs. Visit www.fairtest.org
for a state by state listing of “test optional” colleges.
 College Visits: We encourage you to visit colleges and to attend college
information sessions here at GRHS. When planning a college visit, be sure to call
ahead for tour times, registration, and other information. To attend information
sessions, sign up in the School Counseling office.
 Naviance: Please see your School Counselor for Naviance Login information and
start your college search, resume’, and post high-school planning.
 Request 2 teachers to write letters of recommendation on your behalf. Keep in
mind that these letters are provided by the teacher as a courtesy. To you’re your
teachers to write the most effective recommendation, complete your Brag
Sheet, Parent Brag sheet, & resume via Naviance.

SUMMER PROGRAMS
Alfred University: Summer programs including an Equestrian Camp: July 6-18. Visit

AMSTAT: The American Statistical Association Summer Institute program in statistics for

Banson NYC: NYC fashion summer camps for high school students! For more

Centenary Summer Scholars: A variety of academic areas o study for students entering

Columbia Science Honors Program: For high school students who have a strong interest
in science and math. This is a highly selective, tuition free program. For details visit

Cooper Union Summer Writing Program: Small class size instruction for students
wishing to improve their writing skills.

Essex County College Police Academy: For students from ages 13 to 16 with an interest
