Program evaluations are completed by Pre-College students and parents at the conclusion of the summer program assessing curriculum and program content. Evaluation forms include questions concerning the quality of curriculum, instructional staff, and overall program satisfaction. 2. Instructors and/or program staff document participant ethnicity in each enrichment course by submitting weekly ethnicity reports. 3. Statistical data compiled for the Pre-College annual report (summarizing ethnicity, gender, etc., of each program.) Assessment Findings 1. Program evaluations for 2008 (overall return rate of 31%) indicate that students/parents choose our programs based on the following factors: the opportunity to gain or expand knowledge, variety and quality of course selections, the opportunity enhance social skills/make new friends, reputation of program, and location/college environment. Program evaluations rate the following academic/program areas as excellent or good: quality of curriculum – 96% quality of instructional staff – 97% overall program – 97% quality of customer service/administrative staff – 99% 2. Pre-College Programs fulfilled its mission of attracting and serving a diverse precollege student population. 2008 enrollments generally met or exceeded PreCollege benchmarks in serving minority students. Upward Bound is a precollege program that is designed to motivate and provide academic skills for students from first-generation college and low income families who are interested in pursuing an education program beyond college. Discovery and Residential program improvements included: 1.) Innovative and new course offerings, modeling university strengths and initiatives, including: - STEM offerings grades K-9 (Discovery) - Physics (Busted: Myth or Fact, Residential) - Multi-Media Course (collaboration with Student Technology Assistance Center, WSU Libraries, and Upward Bound) - Forensic Science (course offered in the Discovery, Residential, and OSHI programs) 2.) Central campus locations for summer office, classrooms and Discovery Extended Care. Facilities allowed Pre-College to better serve students and parents, while administering multiple programs and facilitating program staff. 2009 Program Improvements 1. 2008 program outcome surveys will be utilized to identify improvements for 2009 program design and academic curriculum. Students and parents were asked to list courses that they would like to see added to the programs in 2009. - Courses will be offered and developed to meet academic expectations/needs based on recommendations from the surveys. 2. Continue to develop enrichment courses and outreach programs that mirror the strengths and initiatives of Wright State. Model diversity efforts of the university, to include increased focus on recruiting Hispanic participants. Assessment Plan Compliance There were no deviations from the assessment plan. New Assessment Developments The Office of Pre-College Programs set Diversity Benchmarks for enrichment programming in November 2004.
