Class of 2016—Information about Scheduling for the 2015-2016 School-Year
General Information:
During the week of January 13, 2015 current eleventh graders, members of the class of 2016, will begin to select their
courses for their senior year.
On Tuesday, January 13th, students will receive information about courses required for the senior year, a list of courses
that are available to seniors, and a list of courses that have been recommended/suggested by their teachers. On
Wednesday, January 14th, a parent meeting will be held in the CHS auditorium at 6:30 pm. CHS juniors (and their
parents) will then select the courses they would like to take during grade 12 using the CHS online course request system.
The online course request system will be available to students beginning Tuesday, January 13 through the end of the
day on Tuesday, January 20th. After January 20, 2015, students’ course requests for the 2015-2016 academic year can
be viewed at any time using the online course request system. Please note: After January 20th, changes to a student’s
course requests can be made only by the student’s counselor.
As you begin planning for your senior year, we would like for you to carefully consider your four-year plan, diploma
requirements, post-secondary plans, information provided by your counselor and the recommendations from your
teachers to come up with the best possible schedule.
Please note: This year, students will not be receiving a paper copy of the Program of Studies book. The book can be
viewed online through the Carmel High School website under the “Academics” link. The web address for the correct
page is http://www1.ccs.k12.in.us/chs/academics/program-of-studies . Be sure to select the 2015-2016 version of
the Program of Studies. If a student needs to see a paper copy of the book, every SRT teacher will have several copies
available in the classroom. Also, copies will be available in the CHS Media Center as well as the Counseling Center.
Use the grid (on the reverse side) to plan your 12th grade courses before accessing the Online Requests system. Please
be sure to make note of alternate elective choices. Your counselor will be asking you for those alternate elective choices
during your scheduling meeting. You will also be asked about your plans for attending summer school and will be given
the opportunity to register for summer school. The dates for summer school at CHS are: June 1, 2015-July 1, 2015,
Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The courses available during summer school can be found on page 106 of the
2015-2016 CHS Program of Studies. Students may also plan to take a summer school course through Indiana Online
Academy. Information about the IOA Summer School can be found on page 107 of the CHS Program of Studies.
Registration for IOA summer courses must be completed on-line with IOA in April or May.
Beginning January 21, 2015, counselors will meet with students individually to go over their course selections.
To access the Online Course Requests system:
Go the Carmel Clay Schools web site: http://www.ccs.k12.in.us/chs/home
In the search box, type in “OCR”
To log into the system, you will use the student username that you use to log on to any computer while at school.
Your password for the On-Line Course Request system is your student ID number.
Schedules can be changed at any time up to March 1, 2015 by completing a schedule change request form or by emailing your counselor. Between March 1st and May 1st, schedules may be changed only if there are seats available in
the requested class. After May 1st schedules may be changed only for the reasons listed in the CHS Pathways on page
20.
