ELIE TAHARI ELIE TAHARI ELIE TAHARI ELIE TAHARI ELIE TAHARI Biography Elie Tahari is the main example of someone who went from rags to riches. Born in Jerusalem in 1952, he is the success story of an orphan who is living the dream of his life. Making his way to the United States when he was 19 years old to work as an electrician, he found his calling in fashion while working in the garment district in Greenwich Village located in Manhattan. With his love for textiles and fabrics, his ideas first came to life in flirty dance dresses that were inspired by the dazzling disco era of the 1970s. Elie’s designs were very successful and lead him to be one of the first fashion designers to open a boutique on Madison Avenue in 1974. Shortly after, Elie mastered and understood what a woman demanded in the fashion world. He crafted and executed pieces that complimented the woman and made her feel like a million bucks. With an eager appetite to redesign the work suit, Elie turned his focus on suiting in the 1980s, redefining the decade by reintroducing it with a better fit and shape for the body of a woman. 11 W. 42nd St. 14th Floor, New York City, New York 10036 T 212.890.3456 F 212.890.3450 ELIE TAHARI ELIE TAHARI ELIE TAHARI ELIE TAHARI ELIE TAHARI Elie has built an empire in the fashion industry worth over $500 millions. With his first clothing label named Tahari, he built a name for himself and set the bar high for others designers designing a suit. In the 1990s, he introduced Theory, a clothing line that brought his ideas from Tahari to the next level with a more well-rounded presentation for everyday wear. With the success of Theory, comes the inspiration where Elie decides to take it one step higher with a more luxurious aspect. Elie Tahari, the self-titled clothing line was created in the early 2000s, and was designed with the confident, powerful working woman in mind. Elie’s belief that “clothing should be quieter than the woman so that her true beauty can shine through,” has allowed him to be on top of the fashion world and expand into a luxury collection of shoes and bags, amongst other accessories in 2006. A full menswear line was also launched to compliment the men that his main client brings in. As a result of the menswear line’s success, two expansions followed, one in 2008 focusing on men’s shirts, ties and small leather goods, and the second in 2010 where he created a men’s suit collection to tie in both lines providing an all-around shopping stop for both men and women. Elie Tahari is still located in New York City and expanding outside of the United States and Europe where he continues to build his international business and retail presence globally. 11 W. 42nd St. 14th Floor, New York City, New York 10036 T 212.890.3456 F 212.890.3450
