PDM9000 - What’s New in rev. 8.6

This document describes new modules and features available in PDM9000 system
comparing to rev. 8.5 from year ‘2004. Detailed information may be found in separate
documents or system guide.

Projects
PDM Version 8.6 brings major change in table structures, projects becomes revision field
ANDRPRO. This functionality brings all revision functions like: New Revision, List of
Revisions, etc. All other functions was corrected for handling revisions in projects.
Additional toolbars
System becomes new toolbar pane over ObjectManager. This toolbar is defined in
WWW_MENU with code MENU_SHELL.

Plotstation modifications
Plotstation module includes now SSV waiting queue list.
Logocad plotstation supports LPS file format compatible with Triga4.
SSV can print SolidWorks files.
For documents, additional menu option is available: Local Printing. This option is similar to
Local Print for single document but it runs for all documents collected in Plotstation list.
Field PLOTRESIZE will accept wildcard “*” in format definition (sample: ! A4* 1 L !) this
will help having plenty of custom specific formats.
PLOTRESIZE field may be duplicated by field with file extension like PLOTRESIZE_DWG.
This trick work for SSV operations only. Triga plotting accepts only basis field.

CAD interfaces refresh
PDM9000 8.6 (including SSV & PG) supports following Applications/CAD system:

XSTD - New type of position
Drawing positions becomes new type: XSTD. This type is used to register connections to
3D standard models. Such models has to be placed in dedicated directory(s) declared in
INI key SW_FASTENERSLIBDIR. If such model is detected, system trace his property
declared in key SW_FASTENERIDNR. Value of this property is registered like an article
number.
Such connections are important for companies which do not create Draft pages.
XStandards are also exposed on Tree structure in XRef mode.
Heritate drawing parameters.
“PDM knows better!” That was (and still is) our motto. When drawing (2D) is loaded into
CAD system, PDM set proper format, title block, scale and unit. Politically we are right.
However, v8.6 brings new feature: reading back CAD properties during drawing save.
Scenario: User creates drawing in PDM, A4 1:1, loads drawing into CAD system and places
some 3D views on it. During these operations, format and scale are modified in CAD
system, as needed. Final, user jumps to PDM and save his drawing, PDM reads actual
format parameters, reverse them into PDM form and updates drawing data. During next
load, nothing changes in CAD system because PDM data and CAD parameters are
synchronized.
Warning: this functionality is not always welcome. Therefore, such configuration is an
option in PDM and should be activated.

Variable FILEFORMAT_UPDATE_BYSAVE contains a list of drawing extensions which
should be treated like this. Not all CAD systems allow such reversing. Before activating,
ask LTE if it’s allowed for specific CAD system. For now, it works for SolidWorks.
Data correction is made by SQL action PARTLISTUPDATE_SFMT.
Updating XRef links
Having Part (page1) and Draft (page2) its problematic to make new revision/ drawing
copy/ drawing exchange. After such operation, physical link from Draft to Model still points
to old revision. PDM v8.6 brings new remodeled functionality “Actualize Links”. This
function can be call any time from Application Center for changing ANY links in master
drawing.
For some common situations like new version, drawing copies, etc. function automatically
“proposes” change link to actual version or same number.

New Reports
New reports available: History of CheckOuts (for drawings and documents)
For this report, system registers now every operation on original file, even local view is
registered.
Non valid RO Xrefs Notifier
Together with NewPost and Calendar Terms there is a new timer function which trace non
valid files downloaded in RO mode. Sample: User1 rents assembly in RW mode and two
parts in RO mode. Some time later User2 rents Part1, change it and returns. User1 will be
notified about this fact with dedicated window which contains information about Assembly,
Part and modified username.

Timer is controlled by variable PDMTSRFUNCTIONS.

Drawings – Send like an attachement
Function similar to very existing function for documents.
MD5 file checksum
When drawing/document is returned to the server, MD5 checksum is calculated and stored
in database. Later on, actual checksum may be checked.
