

algorithm for pulmonary embolism. This involved a hypothetical recruitment of

Gathered necessary primary literature on associated ototoxicities and the inner ear
mostly involving animal models.
Reviewed abstracts from various publications and retrieved the most relevant articles.
Research Project: "Percent Killing of Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus
Faecium"
Preceptors: Judith M. Hyatt, Pharm.D. and Jerome J. Schentag, Pharm.D. The
Clinical Pharmacokinetics Laboratory, Buffalo, NY.



Using flow cytometry, studied the percent killing of vancomycin resistant enterococci
(VRE) and the activity of linezolid, not yet marketed, versus other antibiotics known
to fail against this organism.
Results showed promising results, suggesting that this new antibiotic has activity
against VRE.
Presented results at the Sigma Xi Poster Competition.
