Take Heed that no one deceives you-Matthew 24:4
I.
BECOMING LOVERS OF THE TRUTH – IN ORDER TO WALK IN ALLEGIANCE TO
JESUS AND FREE OF DECEPTION!
A.
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed
to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, (1 Tim 4:1)
B.
The Holy Spirit warns us that many will perish because they didn’t receive a love for truth.
The coming of the lawless one is…with all unrighteous deception among those who perish,
because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved… (2 Thess. 2:9-10)
C.
The level of freedom we walk in this life is related to what we know to be true
31 Then
Jesus said…”If you abide in My word you are My disciples indeed. And you shall
know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32)
D.
The primary weapon Satan uses is deception through lies
44 You
are of your father the devil…He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not
stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his
own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. (John 8:44)
If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know
yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the
enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.- Sun Tzu- The Art of War
All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our
forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when
far away, we must make him believe we are near. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and
crush him.- Sun Tzu, the Art of War
The Apostle Paul says the same thing about our invisible enemy…11 lest Satan should take advantage of
us; for we are not ignorant of his devices. (2 Cor 2:11)
Deception- causing one to believe what is not true or failing to believe what is true
II.
DO NOT BE DECEIVED- 5 COMMON LIES WE ARE TOLD

What we take in will always affect what comes out. The things we hear, see, speak, and think
affect the condition of our heart.
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. (Gal 6:7)
Who we spend time with always impacts who we become.

Do not be deceived: “Evil Company corrupts good habits.”(1 Cor 15:33)

C.
The fruit of sin is always DEATH!

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when
desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. (Jm 1:14-16)
D.
The wisdom of God is foolish to the world.

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool
that he may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. (1 Cor 3:18-19)

The only way into the Kingdom is through Jesus Christ’s righteousness.
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived.
Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor
thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of
God. (1 Cor 6:9)
THE TRUTH THAT SETS US FREE
A.
Becoming a lover of truth is within the grasp of every child of God.(Matt 22:37)
B.
We do not have because we do not ask.(Jm. 4:2)
C.
We can walk confidently knowing that the Spirit teaches us all things.(1 Cor 2:10, 1 John
2:26-27, Jn. 16:13)
D.
Abiding in the word, prayer, fasting, fellowship with like-minded believers, servant hood,
and watching are all ways in which we position ourselves to walk in the truth and therefore
not be tossed to and fro by winds of doctrine.(Eph 4:14)
