Event Notes/Changes (see the 2012-1013 State Award Program Manual for details) A member may enter only one individual or one team event. A member who has competed in an event at a previous Regional Competitive Events and/or State or National Leadership Conference is not eligible to enter that event again. A member who has competed in an event at a previous Regional Competitive Events, State or National Leadership Conference in a ‘higher level”, may not compete in the associated “introductory level” event. For team entries, one member of the team may have competed at one previous RCE, SLC or NLC. Team members may not compete in the same event more than two (2) years. This includes events such as Banking & Financial Systems, Desktop Publishing, Entrepreneurship, Global Business, Management Decision Making, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Network Design, Parliamentary Procedure, etc. The following are team events. All team events that consist of an objective test will now be collaborative. Team members will work together on one test. At the RCE level, this event consists of a short written test. The first and second place teams in each region will represent their regions at the State Leadership Conference. Guidelines for this activity are found in the New Jersey FBLA-PBL Awards Manual. Chapters entering this event must submit the names of their team members and their one alternate by the December 3 RCE registration deadline. Only those team members who actually compete at the RCE and win will be eligible to compete at the SLC. Since Battle of the Chapters is not a competitive event, team members may also enter another competitive event. Desk Top Publishing. This event will now have an objective on-line test at the RCE level. The Production Test portion will remain at the state level and only be open to winners at the RCE level. Future Business Leader. Competitors should be both male and female. This event will only have an objective on-line test at the RCE level. Job Interview. Materials (registration form and three copies of letter of application and résumé in three separate manila folders) must be physically mailed to the state office by the registration deadline. Parliamentary Procedure. Two members of the team may have competed in this event at a previous RCE, SLC or NLC, however, they may not compete in the same event more than two (2) years. Word Processing I and Word Processing II. These events will have only an objective on-line test at the RCE level. This will allow more students (4 versus 2 per chapter) to participate in these events at the regional level and take the burden off advisers to administer a separate on-site production test for these events. The production test will be given at the state level, and be open only to winners at the RCE level. Entrepreneurship and Parliamentary Procedure. These events may list an alternate on the registration form. The alternate can replace a team member on the day of the RCE. The teams representing New Jersey at the National Leadership Conference will be determined at the State Leadership Conference. Results We award plaques to first-place winners and certificates to all other winners. Please refer to the New Jersey FBLA State Awards Program Manual for further details concerning awards as well as the requirements for continuing to the next level of competition. Participants must achieve a competency level of 70 percent (or a lower level determined at the discretion of the FBLA-PBL State Chairman) on the written objective tests before they will be considered for awards at the regional and state competitions. All plaques and certificates will be mailed to the chapter adviser at his/her school at no cost to the chapter.
