Special Guest Will Primos from Madison, Mississippi is the founder of Primos Hunting, America’s top-selling brand of game calls and hunting accessories. For
nearly 40 years, hunters have trusted the Primos name, from the award-winning calls to ground blinds, trail cameras, scent control products and more. Will’s
love of the outdoors and passion for hunting began at an early age, hunting with his father, Kenneth, his uncles and cousins. At age 11, right after a green
timber duck hunt with his Uncle Gus, Will crafted his first game call-a single reed duck call-that would prove to be the forerunner of millions of Primos’ game
call to come. After earning a business degree from Belhaven College, Will went to work in the “Primos Café” the family’s restaurant and catering business, a
Jackson mainstay, founded by Will’s grandfather Angelo “Pop” Primos, an immigrant from Greece. Game calls were still calling Will, however, so in 1976, at age
24, he founded Primos Hunting, a one-man operation based in his garage. Just one year later, the company had grown to include 8 full time employees working
long hours to meet the growing customer demand. Will first ventured into media with an instructional turkey hunting audiotape in 1983, followed by his first
video, “Spring Turkey Hunting with Will Primos, “in 1986. The success of that video led to the Primos TRUTH video series, with annual titles specifically
focused on hunting turkey, deer, elk, predators and waterfowl. With a growing line of products and sales topping the million dollar mark, Will brought in his
cousin, Jimmy Promos, to manage day-to-day business operations in 1986. The 90’s were a decade of rapid growth, beginning with the company’s largest
investment to date in new technology and skilled staff in 1990. The Primos brand’s visibility grew further with the 1999 premier of “ Primos TRUTH about
hunting,” a weekly program on the Outdoor channel that consistently ranked as one of the most popular hunting shows on TV. Outgrowing its Jackson facility,
Primos Hunting broke ground in 2000 on a 100,000 square foot office and manufacturing complex in nearby Flora, where the company is based today. As
Primos Hunting grew, so did the opportunities for the strategic partnerships. In 2006, Will sold the company to a private equity firm while remaining the
company’s President and keeping his management team intact. In a few short years, Primos doubled both its gross sales and net profits, making it an attractive
partner for Bushnell Outdoor Products, which purchased Primos in 2012. Bushnell was in turn purchased in 2013 by Alliant Technical Systems, or “ATK,”
bringing both the Bushnell and Primos lines into the ATK’s expansive Sporting Goods Division. Today, Primos Hunting offers almost seven hundred different
hunting and hunting accessory products, with a team of product developers continuing to create new products each year. The company holds more than 50
patents and 30 trademarks, and employs more than 100 staff members at its Flora and Brookhaven, Mississippi facilities. Despite the company’s growth,
Primos Hunting is still very much the company Will began in his garage back in 1976. Visitors will still find him testing the calls that come out of the factory,
ensuring that the Primos name stays synonymous with quality workmanship. “The company’s success comes down to quality, and a belief in what we are
doing,” Will explains. “Everyone here is a hunter. If we don’t use a product and don’t believe in it, we can’t market it. If it’s not our heart and soul, we aren’t
going to do it. We’re going to keep on caring about products that we manufacture. The bottom line is we are our own customers. That’s the foundation of the
whole company.” Will resides in Madison, Mississippi with his wife Mary, who has taken her share of spring gobblers. They are active members of Broadmoor
Baptist Church. In addition to representing Primos Hunting, Will is an avid conservationist who works with wildlife conservation groups, promoting the wise
