The first 7 assignments are required for everyone to complete. You will choose 3 of the remaining 8 to complete for the week.

Definitions
Write the definitions for each

reading. Be sure to include the
word, the part of speech, the
definition, and a sentence for
each word.

Read the selection containing this

in your Anthology. Do the

assignment on pg 51.
Spelling Worksheets
Complete the 4 spelling
worksheets, and study for the
spelling test on Friday.
Activity Sheets
Complete the 4 activity
sheets.
Grammar
Complete the 3 grammar worksheets.
Character Sketch
Choose a cartoon character and
make a list describing their traits
using similes and metaphors.
Then organize them into a
paragraph. Revise your paper
making sure to include correct
similes, metaphors, and proper
grammar.
Memory Clues
Follow the directions on the
memory clues worksheet to help
you remember your vocabulary
words for the week.
Word Race
Follow the directions on the
word race worksheet to study
prefixes, suffixes, and root
words.
Word Wheels
Follow the directions to
create a word wheel of
synonyms and antonyms.
Analyze Causes and Effects. Use
Donovan’s Word Jar to write a
paragraph, identify story events as
causes or effects and discuss how
they contribute to the plot.

On the back of each slip, use
your own words to explain the

Computer Thesaurus
Write a descriptive paragraph
to describe a collection that
belongs to you or someone you
know. Tell what you like best
about the collection. Type it
on the computer; use the
Thesaurus on the computer to
edit your paragraph.
Write a Report
of an interview with
someone who has a
collection. Proofread for
correct punctuation of
statements and questions.
Name the Parts of Speech
of five of the Spelling Words. Then
use each word correctly in a
sentence.
