Boom Bah!

Making Music Activities:
1. Write each of the sound words on large note cards:
Bing, Tra-la-la, Ting, Tong, Clickety Click, Ring Ring, Bong,
Sing Sing, Tap Tap.
Pass one out to each child. Sit in a circle and one by one each
child says the word they are holding. Try going faster and
faster. Switch words with a friend. Try it again.
2. Bring in the items in the book: bell, cans, lid, cup, box, bowl,
spoon, stick. Make music. Start with just one “instrument” and
add one at a time until there is a full “band.”
3. Nod head. Tap toes. Clap. Create patterns with those
actions.
Add more actions, like snapping.
4. Place the children in groups of four or five and challenge
them to “make music” with the items provided, or anything else
they think of.
