SPECIAL PROJECTS LIST MOUNTAIN MISSION SCHOOL Groups and individuals often request information, not about basic needs to operate Mountain Mission School, but want information about SPECIAL PROJECTS. They want to know about Goods, materials, machines, toys and the like that will enhance and make life for the children either better, more effective, more exciting or a bit SPECIAL…they are called SPECIAL PROJECTS. Listed here are such items that either children or staff have mentioned from time to time as special in nature, that would really help things along or else be very nice to have, but are not absolutely necessary. Then, there are those items that wear out…everything does eventually…and need replacement. This list contains such items. Some groups show interest in big ticket (expensive) items and some of these are listed here. These big ticket items are specified with an asterisk. However, groups interested in big ticket items should inquire about them before starting such a project because other groups may be working on them or they may have recently come to Mountain Mission School and have not yet been removed from the list. Items in bold indicate a greater need. The grand thing about SPECIAL PROJECTS is that since we are a nationally known and supported enterprise, people somewhere in the nation may find that rare…extremely economical…SPECIAL PROJECT making its acquisition a quick possibility. Many people constantly look for such bargains. Mountain Mission School sincerely appreciates those who participate in SPECIAL PROJECTS. 1 SPECIAL PROJECTS LIST MOUNTAIN MISSION SCHOOL 1760 Edgewater Drive Grundy, Virginia 24614 (276) 935-2954 For Pre-Kindergarten Class Wooden puzzles or floor puzzles, big books Craft supplies: Scraps of fabric, yarns, glitter, cotton balls, buttons, lace, pompoms, rolling eyes, popsicle sticks, stickers, stencils, rubbing plates, etc. Educational pre-school computer games and toys For Kindergarten Balls, Pogo sticks, Toss Games Poster board Bible story videos and posters Vacuum cleaner Small cassette recorders with headphones Bulletin board displays Jump ropes Magnets Educational games Bible picture story cards Cassette tape stories and books Bible (Curriculum) from ABEKA (Life of Christ Series, Moses and Joshua, Ruth) For Grade One Clear contact paper Rubber balls: basketball/soccer/volleyball Stickers Small toys for prizes Carnival tickets Plastic sheet protectors For Grade Two Jump ropes Basketball/soccer ball/football Hardback books for classroom library Caldecott Books New Science Textbooks New English Textbooks New Social Studies Books For Grade Three DVD’s or Video Tapes (Grade appropriate social studies, English & science videos including Magic School Bus, School House Rocks) Hardback Newberry Books, Caldecott Books – 3rd & 4th grade level For Grade Four Videos/DVDs for Science, Math, Reading Newberry Award Novels (25 copies of each) for literature study For Grade Five Blank journals & blank books for writing Newberry Award Novels (25 copies of each) 2 For Grade Six Age appropriate series of books (30 copies) For Science Department Miscellaneous glassware (beakers, flasks, etc.) Stoppers Batteries, all sizes Vacuum Pump Micrometers Miscellaneous corks and rubber stoppers Miscellaneous glass tubing Miscellaneous rubber tubing Distilling apparatus Motion track Magnets Ripple tank Stop watches Torso anatomy model “Pasco” sensors for computer PH meter Volt-Ammeter Fume hood For Wood Shop Lumber Wood screws Hardware including small hinges 6” Jigsaw blades – Black & Decker Nails & screws Sawzall blades 12” compound Mitre Saw Wood lathe Small electric sander – orbital sander Sandpaper Drill Bits For the Bible Department New NIV Bibles (Hardback) for chapel Baptismal Robes (new or used) For the Library Any good library supplies (acid-free tape/book corners) Red/green/yellow transparent label covers New hardcover non-fiction books (history, geography, science, etc.) Clear plastic book jacket covers Money for AR Tests (2.99 each) Caldecott and/or Newberry Award hardcover books Christian Fiction (all ages) For Hurley Hall Residence for Girls Sanitary Napkins with wings (thin) Heavy-duty shower curtain liners & shower curtain hooks Lotions and hand creams Permanent ink markers (Sharpies) Nail polish remover Laundry baskets Shower caps and shower slippers w/straps Paper cups, plates, napkins Nail clippers, nail files or emery boards, safety pins Bathrobes (S, M, L, XL) Slippers (sizes 1-11) Dress clothing – sizes 7-16 girls, 7-15 jr. 3 For Hurley Hall Residence for Girls Underclothing – slips, bras (all sizes (esp.
