Essential background information for understanding dementia Caregiving: risks, burden and growth factors associated with dementia caregiving Week 2: Assessment of Family Caregivers Components of the assessment are reviewed within the context of spousal, adult children, sibling and other caregivers Week 3: Intervention with Family Caregivers - Part 1 A framework for intervention with family caregivers Treatment modalities: Individual Counselling, Family Counselling, Ad hoc Counselling, Support Groups Week 4: Intervention with Family Caregivers - Part 2 Caring for People at Home Residential Care Instructor: Adriana Shnall, MSW, RSW Adriana Shnall, MSW, RSW, has been a social worker at the Ross Memory Clinic at Baycrest (http://www.baycrest.org/care-programs-52.php ) for over 20 years. Her role has been to provide support and education for families dealing with dementia at various points during the course of the neurodegenerative process. Her experience does not only come from her clinical experience, but Adriana has been involved in teaching students throughout her career and is currently in her third year of the Social Work PhD program at the University of Toronto. Her area of focus and research is in dementia caregiving. This workshop will be offered online and will only be offered if there is sufficient enrolment. Registration deadline: Monday, Jun 2nd 2014.
