We are a medium sized friendly and professional GP Practice. We are currently accepting new
patients who live within reach of the surgery, please contact us if you are interested in

Opening Hours
We are open 08.30 to 18.30 Monday to Friday.
We also offer a late Tuesday opening until 8pm
If you would like to register with the practice please ask for details at reception.
We welcome suggestions and criticisms. Please discuss these with your doctor, or the Practice
Manager.

appointment up to 6 weeks in advance or, if you prefer, ring on the day.

Home Visits
If you are too ill to come to the surgery you can request a home visit. It will help us to deal with
your enquiry if you can describe your symptoms to the receptionist. If possible please try to ring
first thing in the morning or as early as possible on the day.

Home Visits
If you are too ill to come to the Surgery, we will arrange a home visit.
Please try to telephone before 11.00 am.
Home visits are undertaken between lunchtimes and at the end of the day.
Please be aware that depending upon the time that you call us and the number of visit requests
that day, you may not be seen until the early evening after the surgery has finished for the day.

When the doctor has agreed to them, prescriptions may be requested.
We are currently unable to take prescriptions over the phone but do offer the following

They will normally be ready to collect on the second working day after we receive the request. If
you are registered for Online Access you can follow the link below to order your prescription. If
you would like to join online access please ask Reception for joining instructions.
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed.

Asthma
We offer a range of times during the week with Sister Sara Crabb.
Smear tests.
These are 20 minute appointments, available at a range of times throughout the week.
Antenatal Clinic
The midwives hold clinics on Thursday mornings. Doctors see patients for antenatal care during
normal surgery hours.
Baby Clinic
An open clinic is held weekly on a Thursday, from 1.30 – 3.00 pm at Hillside Children's Centre,
Eastwick Road Taunton. Tel 01823 322124. Health Visitors, based at the surgery, can be
contacted on 01823 253462.
Counselling
The practice has its own trained counsellor, fully accredited with the British Association for
Counselling. Where appropriate, your doctor will refer you.
Diabetic Clinic
Clinics are held on a Wednesday and Thursday afternoon with the diabetic nurse, Sister Alison
Pumphrey
Stop Smoking Clinic
Available in the surgery, you can see the stop smoking adviser between 5pm and 7.30pm on Tuesdays. Make an

Dietician
Available in the surgery, you can see the dietician by referral from your doctor. The clinics are
held once a month, and are by appointment.
Family Planning
All the doctors and nurses are happy to discuss this and nearly all forms of contraception can be
provided from the surgery.
Emergency and confidential advice is available at all times, by appointment.
Immunisations
Children are notified by the Patient & Practitioner Services at the Primary Care Trust.when they
need to come for immunisation or check–ups. Clinics are held on the second and fourth Monday
of each month.
Adults should have a tetanus booster at about the age of 25 or later.
If you plan to go abroad please contact us well in advance as it may take 2 months, or more, to fit
in a full course of immunisations (see the travel page).
Minor Surgery
Minor surgical procedures are carried out in the practice under local anaesthetic. Your own
doctor will arrange this for you.
Menopause and HRT
All the doctors are able to give advice on these topics.
Chiropody
We host a private clinic on Tuesday afternoons. You can arrange an appointment through
reception. A 20 minute sessions costs £25
Physiotherapist
Weekly clinics are held at the surgery. Patients need to be referred by the doctor.

Confidentiality
Confidentiality
The practice holds information about all patients, which is private and sensitive, in both
electronic and written form. Unless a patient consents to the release of information this will not
be made available to anyone other than staff of the practice who need access to it to perform their
duties.
We may on occasion be required to provide statistics for authorised bodies such as the Primary
Care Trust, but we only do so if we are satisfied that the data is totally anonymised.

If you have a complaint or suggestion about the service you receive at the surgery, do ask to
speak to the Practice Manager who will deal with all such matters in a professional manner.

Rights & Responsibilities
The partners and staff at Lyngford Park Surgery aim to set the following standards of service for
their patients. In return they expect certain standards from their patients.















We will provide you with health care on the basis of your clinical need.
No care or treatment will be given without your informed consent.
We will keep you informed about the care and services we are able to provide.
You will be greeted in a friendly, welcoming and courteous manner.
You have a right to confidentiality.
You will be offered an appointment with your own doctor, or if they are not available,
one of the other doctors in the practice, usually on the day you contact us, however we do
take advanced bookings, at certain times, up to 6 weeks in advance.
If the doctor is running late we will keep you informed of the reason and expected time
delay.
Prescriptions will be issued during a consultation if necessary. Repeat prescriptions need
2 working days’ notice - see the prescriptions page for details.
If you have had tests at the practice you will be responsible for contacting the surgery to
establish the results.
You have the right to see your medical records subject to limitations of the law. A fee
will be levied.
In an emergency, or in the case of a patient who is unable to come to the surgery, the
doctor will make a home visit if it is considered appropriate to do so by the doctor.
We have a complaints procedure and will respond in writing within 48 hours.
If we need to cancel your appointment we will do our utmost to give as much notice as
possible and offer an alternative time at your convenience.
We are a training practice and on occasion you may be asked it you are prepared to have
your consultation recorded.
In urgent cases, if you wish to speak to a doctor, we will endeavour to do this, however,
we do try not to routinely interrupt the doctor when in surgery. If you leave your details
with the receptionist we will get back to you.
What you can do for us






Please treat all staff with the same courtesy and respect that we offer.
If you need a home visit please try and telephone before 10.30 am unless a genuine
emergency arises.
If you wish to speak to the doctor or nurse leave your details with the receptionist and
they will ring you back.
If a doctor is running late please be patient. The receptionist will keep you informed.
Remember that we need 2 working days’ notice for repeat prescriptions.

Our practice nurses undertake dressings, suture removal, injections,
ear syringing, blood tests, blood pressure checks, etc. They provide
free health checks – there is no need to wait until you are ill. They also
run Diabetic, Asthma, Coronary Heart and Travel clinics.
