CRESTVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH Our Mission is to Glorify God by Reaching and Developing People for Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Issue 106 MAY 2008 FROM THE PASTOR… What a joy it is to see God at work in our midst. Since March 30 the Lord has added souls to Crestview every week. Some have been added in the Sunday morning celebration service, some in Children’s Church and some in the Wednesday night adult Bible Study. We will be baptizing three people the first Sunday of this month. Several other people have prayed to receive Christ and we anticipate them making their decision public. To God be the Glory! I am thankful for Jon Hall handling the music for a few weeks until we can call a new staff member and get him on the field. Jon has done a wonderful job and the music has been great. Thank you choir, Praise Band, Praise Team, Martha Lu, and Patti for your support and ministry. Another exciting event is God sending Dan and Dyan Garner to us. Dan believes God is calling him to Crestview. I believe God is calling Him to be our Associate Pastor of Worship and Administration. The church leadership believes God is calling him here. Be sure to take advantage of the opportunities to meet and talk with Dan and Dyan from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3 rd, at the church. Be in prayer for God to be glorified and His perfect will done as we vote to issue God’s Call to Dan at the end of the morning celebration service, May 4th. We are so excited that Rick Murray will be joining us from Liberty University to do his Summer Internship here at Crestview. He will be working primarily with the Youth Group. Rick will be with us beginning May 9 through the end of July. There are many other exciting things happening at Crestview in May. Grad Day and Mother’s Day are among them. These are good opportunities to bring people with you. The Road to Financial Freedom has really been a beneficial series. I have heard many good comments about it. A number of guests have attended because of it. We will be having some additional resources and events for this series in the near future. Be sure to act on the financial principles you have learned. I love you, Bro. Gene Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11th. We are having a special service honoring all of the women that have had an impact in our lives. Please join us at 10:45 a.m., May 11th. MORE THANK YOU’S…. Dear Crestview: Thank you for the lovely planter and expression of sympathy on the recent death of my brother, Ray “Cotton” Preston. It was so thoughtful and appreciated. If you have signed up to volunteer this year remember our training date is SAT May 17th at 3:00pm. I will have samples of all the rotations, crafts, food and recreation. If you haven’t signed up and would like to come and see what VBS is all about, please join us. We can always use assistants, even if you cannot help all week. Our motto this year is “Know the Truth, Speak the Truth, and Live the Truth.” Each night the children will learn and experience Jesus like they have never done before. Please pray about how you would like to help in this awesome outreach for Crestview Baptist Church. We are also accepting donations for POOL NOODLES. If you have some we can use or would like to donate please let me know. As always if you have any questions please call Regina Rockey-474.4485 or the church office. God Bless. Dear Church family: Thank you to all that have donated clothing and furniture to Little Austin. A little love goes such a long way. We are so blessed to have such wonderful and generous friends. The Rockey Family Dear Crestview: Vern and Avonelle Worsham and all the extended family of Danny Meadows – the husband of Vern’s sister, Sue Meadows – would like to thank the Crestview family for the prayers and support during the recent, unexpected passing of Danny. Thank you for the cards, words of encouragement, and the beautiful floral arrangement. The blessings of having a close, caring church family have helped Vern’s sister and the entire family to be better able to cope with this sudden loss. We sincerely thank you. Vern and Avonelle Worsham MEN’S PRAYER BREAKFAST Our next Men’s Prayer Breakfast (it’s FREE!) and Bible Study will be Saturday, MAY 10 AT 8:30 A.M.
