This presentation will also encompass Congress’ work for the benefit of Canada – the emigrants’ new land they have decided to live in and support the development of. The conference will also focus on Congress’ work during the communist servitude period designed to disseminate and promote the idea of Poland’s liberty on the international arena as well as Congress’ support for domestic, anti-communist opposition and Poland’s aspirations to join the North Atlantic Treaty. The conference will provide a perfect chance to include numerous examples of the Congress’ assistance to Poles who live in Poland as well as those who live in Canada delivered with the help of United Polish Relief Fund, Fundusz Wieczysty Millenium (Canadian-Polish Millennium Fund), Adam Mickiewicz Foundation, KPK Charitable Foundation and many other institutions; a particular focus will be directed towards post-Solidarity émigrés to Canada. The Conference organisers wish to present the Congress’ involvement in the national identity preservation among Poles in Canada and support for Polish schooling institutions (work of School Committee and Higher Education Committee, the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in Canada), culture and science institutions (Canadian Polish Research Institute’s heritage) and Congresses’ involvement in upholding Polish traditions expressed in annual celebrations of the 3rd May, 11th November, anniversaries of the Katyn Massacre etc. The Congress commitment to Poland’s and Pole’s good reputation (Komisja Propagowania i Obrony Dobrego Imienia Polski i Polaków – The Committee for Defence and Propagation of Good Name of Poland and the Poles) and promotion of Poland to Canada’s general public will also receive a strong emphasis.
