June 18, 2013
The Regular Meeting of the North Hanover Township Board of Education was held in the multi media
center (library) in the C.B. Lamb Elementary School located at 46 Schoolhouse Road in North Hanover
Township.
Mr. Sullivan called the meeting to order at approximately 6:45 PM and read the Open Public
Meetings Act announcement and a salute to the Flag.
On a motion by Mrs. Johnson, seconded by Mrs. Geibel, the meeting was adjourned into
Executive (closed) Session.

or expenditures which in total exceed the line item appropriations in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11(a),
and that there are sufficient funds to meet the Board’s obligation for the remainder of the fiscal year.

PERSONNEL - Resolution #13-06/18/86
Based on the recommendation of the Superintendent, Mrs. Geibel moved that the following
personnel action(s) be approved:
a.
Approval of the contract with Matthew J. Ernandes, Jr. as Board Secretary/Business
Administrator for the period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 at a salary of
$128,520.
b.
Approve the revised long term medical leave for Mr. Matthew Ernandes with a return
to work date of September 15, 2013.
c.
Extend contract of Interim Business Administrator, Mrs. Peggy Ianoale, through
September 15, 2013 at a rate of $50 per hour for up to 25 hours per week.

Based on the recommendation of the Superintendent, Mrs. Bruder moved that the following
buildings and grounds action(s) be approved:

Approval of a contract between the North Hanover Township Board of Education and
First Energy Solutions Corp. for electric generation services effective May 2013 for
twenty-four (24) months at a bid price of $0.07990 all inclusive. Current JCPL price is
.10295599/KWH; a savings of .2306/KWH. Bid awarded March 27, 2013 by the
Alliance for Competitive Energy Services (ACES). The award is in accordance with
NJSA 18A-18A-1 et seq. and the Electric Discount and Energy Competition Act of
1993.
b.
Authorizing an amendment to the District’s approved Long Range Facilities Plan to
include the Capital projects from 2006 forward and updated enrollment projections.

Approval of a Joint Transportation Agreement with Northern Burlington County
Regional School District for the 2013-2014 whereby North Hanover Township
will transport one (1) Northern Burlington County Regional School District to
the Y.A.L.E. School in Voorhees, NJ, effective July 2, 2013, at a shared cost of
one half of the cost of said route.

Transportation Agreements with other districts within Burlington County.

SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT
1)
PTA and NJSBA joint legislative Day—June 6; Mrs. Payne spoke about advocacy.
Policy is either going to be set for us or by us. Legislative members suggested that boards
pass resolutions and provide any information they are asked for. Hot topics—funding,
subcontracting and teacher evaluation.
2)
Impact Aid Bill was pulled because there was substantial objection to the retroactive
clause. Will be introduced in the next session in the fall.
3)
Old computers will be kept for PARCC testing. We may have to set up auxiliary labs.
4)
Principal interviews—60 applications, 7 questions sent to 20 people. Six were invited for
initial interview with administrative team. Five were brought back for second interview
with some administration/teachers/BA using questions from UES teachers. At the end,
there were two candidates on everyone’s list. Final interviews will be at 3 and 4 PM on
Thursday, June 20.
5)
Question—Board self-evaluation and District goal setting. Mr. Sullivan asked to wait for
Mr. Schroeder. It is done online.
6)
A UES student got to meet President Obama because of his writing. He was a winner of
the essay writing contest for the wreath laying ceremony. Base leadership passed it along
to the President and the student read it when the President landed at McGuire.
7)
Colonel Korsey came to UES today to give the chorus a certificate of participation.
8)
Promotion ceremony is Friday at 6:30 PM.
Mrs. Bergevin thanked the Board for the opportunity to be the District Technology Facilitator for
the last five years. She also distributed a packet which contained information pertaining to her
duties.
