Government Grants for the Trades Federal Grants Apprenticeship Incentive Grant - AIG is a taxable cash grant of $1000 per year, up to a maximum of $2000 per person, available to registered apprentices once they have successfully finished their first or second year/level (or equivalent) of an apprenticeship program on one of the Red Seal trades Apprenticeship Completion Grant - ACG is a taxable cash grant of $2000 maximum available to registered apprentices who have successfully completed their apprenticeship training and obtained their journeyperson certification in a designated Red Seal trade. Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit - AJCTC is a non refund tax credit equal to 10% of the eligible salaries and wages payable to eligible apprentices. The maximum credit an employer can claim is $2000 per year for each eligible apprentice. If your business hires an ‘eligible apprentice’, you qualify to claim the credit. Provincial Grants Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship – makes it easier for students to succeed in their education and seize the tremendous opportunities that Saskatchewan has to offer. Every Saskatchewan grade 12 graduate who graduated after Jan 1-2012 (including ABE and GED) who enrols at a Saskatchewan post secondary institution is eligible to receive up to $500 per year (to a life time maximum of $2000) to be applied to their tuition costs at a Saskatchewan post secondary institution. Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship – SYA raises awareness of apprenticeship in Saskatchewan high schools by helping young people discover the rewards that come with working in the skilled trades. Upon full completion of the SYA program, the student once registered as an apprentice will receive waiver of their registration fee, no charge for their first level of technical training, and 300 hours credit towards their apprenticeship hours. Industry Scholarship Program – SATCC partnered with the Saskatchewan Government and Industry has initiated a Youth Apprenticeship Industry Scholarship Program. Students that graduate from high school, have completed the SYA program and pursue apprenticeship may be eligible for a $1000 scholarship. Graduate Retention Program - The graduate retention program rewards you for building your future in Saskatchewan by providing a refund up to $20,000 of tuition fees paid by eligible graduates who live in Saskatchewan for the next 7 years.
