Important End of the Year Information
Dear Parents and Students,
We are getting down to the wire and the countdown has begun! This packet
includes very important information. Please read this thoroughly and refer to
it as we continue to the end of the year.
It has been a wonderful season and I want to thank you for all of your
support!

RECITAL 2015 INFORMATION
Classes and Tuition
Tuition #10 (final tuition-1/2 payment) is due the week of May 1st, only half a payment is
due. All payments must be made by May 15th. Any outstanding balances must be paid in
full by May 15th in order for your child to participate in the dance concert. We will not be
accepting payments after May 15th. If balances are not paid your child cannot continue
to participate in the dance classes and will not be in our recital.
Last day of classes is Thursday, May 28th!
Pictures
Hub Willson Photography will be taking pictures at the studio on Monday, May 11th.
Hub is a renowned photographer whose work can be found all over the Lehigh Valley
Area. He is the sole photographer for Repertory Dance Theater, Pennsylvania Youth
Ballet, Mayfair, Musikfest and many others. His photography is outstanding in quality. I
will hang a sign up sheet in the waiting room to sign up for a time on Monday, April 6th.

work of our students in both Studio A and B.
Graduating Seniors
Please turn in one baby picture and one senior picture along with your college choice by
Monday, May 4th. Rehearsals for the senior piece will be the following Wednesdays:
May 6th, 13th, and 20th from 9:00-9:45pm. If you do not attend these rehearsals you will
not be in the piece.
Assistant Teachers
Assistants will be doing a piece to open the show. The following Saturdays will be
rehearsal for the piece: Saturday, May 2nd 12:00-1:00pm and Saturday, May 9th 12:001:00pm.
Costumes, Hair, Make-up and Shoes
Please be sure to put your child’s name on all costumes, shoes and accessory bags. If you
have any questions about costume alterations, please ask the instructor or check the book
in the office door. All changes to the costumes must be made before the dress rehearsal.
No underwear under tights! We recommend that they wear a nude leotard underneath
so they are more comfortable in the dressing rooms. We sell them for $20.00. Please

make sure your child wears the correct tight color, if you are unsure, see your child’s
instructor for clarity. No jewelry is allowed to be worn on stage. Tight color will be listed
on the website. Tights will be distributed the week of April 20th, please only use these for
the concert so that everybody is the same.
With the exception of the pre-school 1 and 2 classes, all hair is to be worn parted on
the left side in a low-bun. Below is how the hair should be:

Top View
Hair must be completely slicked, no wispies and no bangs. I recommend hair gel, hair
spray, bobby pins and hair nets. All of these supplies should be kept in the dancer’s bag.
Unless otherwise specified, all hairpieces should be bobby pinned to the right side of the
low bun. Make sure all hairpieces are secure in the hair!!!!! Pre-schoolers should wear
their hair suitable for them.

Make-up:
With the exception of the pre-schoolers, there are stage make up requirements. After
much trial and error I have found the perfect make up for the lighting that we use on the
stage. I ask that you watch the following YouTube video and copy this as best as you can.

You will need the following make-up to do this correctly:
liquid foundation
face powder
powder blush
white eye shadow
brown eye shadow
black eyeliner
black mascara
bright red lipstick- EVERYONE!!! Not pink or glossy!!!
The video shows in details how the make-up should be done. Please everyone watch this!
This make up is very important so that we can see their faces under the stage lighting.
Shoes
The following is the protocol for the correct shoes that your child needs to have, listed by
class, if you have any questions see the instructor. All the shoes that are required are sold
at the studio for competitive prices. Please see our website for complete products.
 Pre-school 1 and 2- pink ballet shoes (no satin slippers, must be leather)
 5, 6 and 7 year olds- Ballet- pink leather ballet shoes, Tap- must be black,
preferably jazz tap oxford with shoelaces but will accept black patent tyette taps.
 8-10 year old and 11-13 year old and 13+- Tap- black jazz oxford taps-no patent
leather, Jazz- black jazz oxfords
 Hip-hop I, II, III- black jazz sneakers
 Ballet- pink leather or canvas ballet slippers
 Lyrical- bare feet
If your child does not have the proper shoes, he or she will not be allowed to
perform!!!!

Tickets
A ticket request form is included in this packet. Please turn in with your payment, tickets
are going on sale the week of Monday, April 6th and will be distributed starting then.
They will also be available at the door. Tickets are first come, first serve and are general
admission. All tickets are $10.00. Children 3 and under are free. Once purchased,
tickets are non-refundable!!!
Videotapes
The concert will be professionally videotaped by Reiners Visual Productions. A DVD
will be available for purchase. Order forms will be available from the videographer the
night of the performance. Please see his display table for information.
Class Moms
Parents are not allowed backstage (with the exception of the designated class
moms)and all performers must stay backstage during the entire performance so we rely
on the help of our class moms. We will need class moms to assist with their child’s class
backstage during the concert. All class moms must be at dress rehearsal. If you cannot
be at dress rehearsal for the entire night then please do not volunteer, absolutely no
exceptions will be made. If you are interested, the sign-up sheet will be posted on the
bulletin board in the waiting room, Monday April 6th. Please sign only in the spaces
allotted for that particular class. All class moms will receive one complimentary ticket to
the dance concert, day of your choice. Class moms are very important when trying to run
a successful show. We really appreciate your help.
Dress Rehearsal
The dress rehearsal is being held on Friday, May 29th at 5:00pm in the Parkland Senior
High School Auditorium, located on Cedar Crest Boulevard, north of Crest Plaza. The
students will be excused as soon as they have rehearsed their routines (please note, we do
not know when they will be excused so we cannot tell you a time beforehand.)****
Please be dressed in your first costume (a program order will be sent home prior to dress
rehearsal) and ready to begin at 5:00pm. This is a closed rehearsal. You will drop your
child off and check in with the class mom. You will be notified when your child is done
by the class mom. Parents will not be allowed in the theater with the exception of the
balcony. If you would like to videotape or wait for your child, you may do so in the
balcony only. Students will not be allowed in the theater at anytime during the rehearsal

or the performances, they must remain backstage with the class moms until they are
excused.
Once again, in our efforts to put on a very professional show, this does take time. Our
rehearsal is from 5-11pm, please be patient with us. We excuse the dancers as soon as
they are done. Please note, you may pack your child snacks, the snack bar will also be
open during the rehearsal. It will be selling things such as hotdogs, soft pretzels, sodas,
juices, snacks etc. All proceeds benefit the Parkland High School Dance Team.
****The only exception is: For dress rehearsal only, pre-schoolers will run their
dance first and will be excused immediately following. Pre-school moms will be
allowed in the theater for dress rehearsal to wait for their child to be finished.
During the actual show, however, the children will need to be backstage with the
class moms until after intermission.
Dance Concert
The dance concert is being held on Saturday, May 30th at 7:00pm and Sunday May 31st
at 2:00pm . All dancers need to arrive by 6:00pm on Saturday and 1:00pm on Sunday and
check in with their class moms. We run a very professional show and appreciate all your
help in abiding by the rules to make this possible.
Again, you will drop your child in their designated dressing rooms with their class mom.
Then if you are staying to watch show, you must get in the line in the lobby. No one is
allowed to enter the theater without a ticket. A ticket must be purchased for each show.
Please note: All dressing rooms must be kept clean! We are a guest of Parkland High
School and the dressing rooms must be left in the condition they were in. We must keep it
clean and trash free.
To all parents:
Any student participating in the dance concert remains backstage for the entire performance. We
believe in running a professional dance concert and we do not allow our performers in the audience.
Class moms are backstage at all times and all children will be well taken care of and supervised.
Thank you for your cooperation. For the safety of the children, we will have monitors at the doors to
backstage, only parents with badges will be allowed backstage. Please respect our rules, again it is for
the safety of your child. You will be allowed to come backstage to get your child at the end of the
show. They will need to be signed out with the class mom. If you cannot follow our rules, your child
will not be allowed to participate in our show.
Also, please remind all of your guest, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING ALLOWED ON
THE PARKLAND HIGH SCHOOL PREMISES, PLEASE RESPECT THIS AND FOLLOW ALL
RULES IN REGARDS TO THIS MATTER.
