Dance Etc… “A place to Dance and Dream” Registration Information Here is some information to help you complete your registration form & plan for another exciting dance season! Baby & Pre Ballet (3yrs –4yrs) 45 min. This is a magical class, teaching Ballet basics and creative movement with sing along songs, tutus, & magic wands. Dress Code: Hair in a bun. Pink leotard, pink tights, & pink slippers with the elastic sewn on. Tap/Jazz Combo (4yrs – Kinder) 45 min. This class teaches Tap basics from shuffles to buffalos. The Jazz portion includes flexibility exercises & isolation movements mixed with rhythm & lots of fun!! Dress Code: All hair must be off of face & neck, short bangs are OK. Dancers must wear clothes to stretch in. Any color leotard, unitard, or bike shorts. Wear a fresh pair of socks, black patent leather Mary Jane Tap shoes & Ballet slippers (with elastic sewn on) for Jazz. No T-shirts, skirts, jeans or slacks. Ballet (Kinder & up) 45-90 min. This class teaches the style of classical ballet. It has an emphasis on grace and fluid movements of the body with precise footwork. Ballet is the basis of all technique for all dance styles, and is important to master if you wish to advance and progress in other dance styles. Dress Code: All hair for ballet must be in a bun - NO EXCEPTIONS. Pink tights, black leotard, skirts (no longer than mid - thigh), and pink slippers (with elastic sewn on). In the winter, you may wear a tight shrug or Ballet sweater. Pointe (Miss Anna invitation only) 45 min. This class is for dancers who have had ballet technique classes and have developed the strength and discipline to perform on Pointe. Must take Ballet to enroll. Dress Code: Same dress code as Ballet class above. Tap (1st gr. & up) 45 min. This class will focus on the isolation of the feet to create rhythm and percussion. Dress Code: All hair should be in a ponytail, or secured off of the face. Please wear dance clothes, not school clothes. Stretch pants, leotards, etc. No jeans, slacks or skirts. Tap shoes should be a black slip on, or lace up oxford Tap shoe. Irish (3rd gr. & up) 45 min. Irish dancers must have 2 yrs Tap experience. Must take Tap to enroll. Dress Code: Same dress as for Tap class. Jazz (1st gr. & up) 45-90 min. Jazz is a style that is constantly growing and changing. It was first performed in Broadway shows and has progressed over the years to popular commercial dance. It consists of isolated movements of the entire body with explosive leaps and turns. Ballet technique is a plus. Dress Code: All hair should be in a ponytail, or secured off of the face. Please wear dance clothes, not school clothes. Stretch pants, leotards, etc. No jeans, slacks or skirts. Acceptable Jazz or Lyrical shoes are as follows: a slip on, split sole Jazz slipper, a tan Jazz sandal, ballet slippers, or a Lyrical sandal. There are no Jazz sneakers allowed for Jazz, but they are OK for Hip Hop. Lyrical (7th gr. & up) 75-90 min. This class incorporates Ballet, Modern & Jazz styles performed to contemporary music & lyrics. Lyrical dancers must have 2yrs Ballet & Jazz experience. Must take Ballet and Jazz to enroll. Dress Code: Same dress as for Jazz Class. Hip Hop (4th gr. & up) 60 min. This is a young style of dance that is created from African and urban street. It is also growing and changing year after year, and is very popular with the kids and in commercial dance. Jazz experience is a plus. Dress Code: Same dress as for Jazz …You may wear looser clothes and Jazz sneakers for Hip Hop. Musical Theater (5th gr. & up) 90 min. This class will take you on an exciting journey to the history of Broadway musicals, as well as musical theater dance styles from different theatrical shows & choreographers. Remember, Broadway uses Tap, Jazz, & Ballet in their productions, so experience in all dance styles is a plus. Must take Jazz and Tap to enroll. Dress Code: Same dress as for Jazz & Tap, please have all shoe types. Couples Class (7th gr. & up) 60 min. Learn the basics of Swing, Mambo, Waltz, & more…but girls you must supply a boy partner. Dress Code: Clothes you can move in - No sneakers. Wear Jazz shoes or Character shoes. There is a new energy in the air and the excitement is radiating through the dancers every day. They are just getting more and more beautiful to watch. Teaching has always been my first love, and I surround myself with a staff that feels exactly the way I do about this beautiful community of kids. I am passionate about our dancers and it is my mission to bring them the best dance education in the area, so they may have the tools to dance throughout their lives whether it is professionally, for recreational enjoyment, or perhaps to teach the art of dance one day. I believe we are training these dancers to be athletes in life, as they are learning lessons about work ethic, and their amazing abilities and talents that even surprise themselves. Please look them over so there are no surprises. Thank you! Tuition Rates 45-60 min. classes - $9.00/class 75 min. classes - $11.00/class (these are intermediate level classes) 90 min. classes - $13.00/class (these are upper level classes) Private lessons are available beginning at $40/hr. Tuition is charged per student & is due on the 1st of every month. A 10% discount will be given to any student taking 5 or more classes per week. There are no refunds or credits due to missed classes. We will adjust your monthly tuition due to holidays, cancelled class caused by instructor illness, etc. Costume Rates 3yrs ~ Kindergarten – purchase 1 costume for the year at $45 1st ~ 3rd grade – purchase 1 costume per enrolled class at $45 4th ~ 6th grade – purchase 1 costume per enrolled class at $60 7th grade & up – purchase 1 costume per enrolled class at $70 These amounts are the same for Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Pointe, Lyrical, Couples, Musical Theater & Irish. Costume Payment Deadline will be November 15th, 2011. STEP 1 To enroll in our 2011-2012 Dance Season, you begin the process by sending us the following: 1. A pink “Class Request Form” filled out completely, with a $30 enrollment fee per child. This fee helps cover all the “extras” through the year (insurance & liability, mailing costs, etc). This fee is only refundable if a dancer does not send in their confirmation form to us, or does not attend any classes in the new season. We are at capacity in many classes, and will be turning away or creating new classes depending upon the interest during enrollment. 2. After you have completed the attached pink “Class Request Form” and your method of $30 payment, please send them back to Dance Etc… or drop them off anytime in the mailbox outside our front door at 525 Hotel Plaza Boulder City, NV 89005. STEP 2 After we have received your completed pink “Class Request Form” and $30 enrollment fee, we will send you the following: 1. A yellow “Class Assignments” & “Studio Policies” form (this form is for you to keep for reference): a. The front “Class Assignments” side lists your classes, days, times and instructors. b. The back “Studio Policies” side lists our policies for dancers & parents. 2. A pink “Confirmation Form” & “Liability Waiver/Studio Policy Agreement” form (this form must be returned to us by our deadline of July 30th, 2011): The front “Confirmation Form” side allows you to commit to the classes you are comfortable with attending and paying for the year… Provide your mailing information, phone numbers, and “Method of Payment” for the year. We accept cash, check, credit card, or credit card kept on file for automatic monthly billing. The back side of your form includes our Liability Waiver, Emergency Contact, Medical Form & Studio Policy Agreement. Please be sure to fill it out completely, parents and dancers 4th grade & older must sign the Studio Policy Agreement. 3. A yellow “Dance Etc. Calendar & News” form (this form is for you to keep for reference): The front “Dance Etc. Calendar” side lists the no dance days for the year & special dates at Dance Etc., including parent observation weeks & spring recital dates. The back “Dance Etc. News” side provides information and/or changes at the studio that we feel are important to share with you. STEP 3 “VERY IMPORTANT!!” Please return the following back to us at 525 Hotel Plaza Boulder City, NV 89005 no later than our deadline: Saturday, July 30th, 2011. To confirm and reserve your spot in the 2011- 2012 Dance Season we need the following: 1. A pink “Confirmation Form” with front & back side completely filled out. 2. The full tuition total for August. If you choose not to dance during the full month of August, please understand your desired class choices may be filled to capacity and unavailable. 3. Half of your Costume total for the year. (Remember, your spot in class is not confirmed until we receive ALL of the previously listed items) STEP 4 Come to dance class…Classes begin the week starting Monday, August 8th, 2011!!!
