Include BK Trial Exam 2012 Results…… Ask for a re-mark of your SPM BK 2012 paper

Several points of importance to note.

Please have school certify the sitting of the BK Trial paper (Sept/Oct annually)

The School Principal’s signature is needed on the borang semak semula (re-marking
application form)

Explore early. Please go into LPM (Lembaga Peperiksaan website). GO into the SPM
section. Type semak semula and look at the 2 pages of form to fill in and also the
2 pages of instructions. Get the forms from your own school. The fee is RM 50.

E-mail to your students and church and teacher friends - the new circular from MOE
(Ministry of Educ.) on allowing BK classes in school. No more excuses by school
administrators that they don’t acknowledge this SPM subject. Some school
administrators have disallowed students even to take a class outside and would not let
the student sign up for the subject (at the start of the Form 5 year). Please note that they
have no right to so this.

Enlist parents and students to be aware of these matters now and they will help
you and help themselves when the time comes for applying for re-marking.
The re-marking application season is only 30 days after the release of the SPM
Results….. in March Send in your application within 2 weeks (eg before mid April).
Refusal to ask for re-marking cost some brilliant students their new grade of A+.
So, ignorance and delay have consequences.
Who should ask for re-marking?
1) All strong students who felt the paper was easy and they answered it well!
2) All candidates who are unhappy with the BK grade. For example, you usually get B, but
you got a D in the SPM.
3) Those who thought they could do the paper and failed.
How does re-marking help us (the public) know the standard for SPM BK?
1) Trial exam marks and grades are compared . Trial marks are officially recognized.
2) The national data can be collected by people like me via email and compiled and studied
within a a month. Unjust grading can be brought up to the Lembaga by a group of
educators on behalf of the 2012 candidates. Please apply for semak semula.
3) Several 2010grades were changed….from A to A+ (5 persons) and from E to D
(1 person).(could have been more cases, but few reported). No data, no appeal case.
Q: Will the marking and grading be fairer for SPM BK ? Competent examiners who mark do not do grading.
1) Candidates must prepare well, with practice and gain real understanding of the text and be familiar with
the type of questions. Brief and general answers cannot score marks!
2) Pray. The marking is of a high standard. The grading system can become fairer. So Pray!
3) Every BK teacher, please obtain and send the BK grades analysis table to me, whatever
the results. Index numbers/full names must be included. It’s a chore but please help!
