We would like to welcome a new student to our school, Jaidyn Taylor in Grade

2 and his mum Jacinta.

ANZAC DAY

Our Gr. 6 students joined many other Bendigo students last Thursday on an excursion to the

Shrine for the Primary Schools ANZAC Day

Commemoration Service.

ANZAC DAY

On Monday, we had a very informative and enjoyable session with Major Janine Franks from Puckapunyal

Army Base. Janine has served in Egypt and Afghanistan and was able to clearly communicate her experiences to the students. Janine was able to deepen our understanding of the background of ANZAC Day through her display on the interactive whiteboard, with many pieces of equipment and uniform and the students really enjoyed applying camouflage paint to the teachers.

Thank you to Kellie White for organising Janine’s visit.

Tomorrow our Gr. 2-6 students will visit the RSL Museum in Pall Mall to complete our ANZAC Day studies.

SPECIAL SPORTS

Starting tomorrow, Friday 27 th , our Special Sports Program will run over four Fridays. Gr. 2-6 students will travel to Bendigo for Friday afternoon sport and have chosen to take part in either Ten Pin Bowling, Squash,

Rock Climbing or Lawn Bowls. They will participate in two sports for two weeks each. If any parents (or grandparents) are wanting to assist the teachers with supervision or coaching, please contact Mr. C at the school. The program will cost $25 in total for the four weeks.

A permission form has been sent home today, please return tomorrow.

MOTHER’S DAY STALL

Friday 11 th May.

We are asking families to send in items for the stall.

FLOOD RELIEF - COMMUNITY BUSH DANCE

The City of Greater Bendigo and the Axedale –Our Town - Our Future group are pleased to offer all

Axedale families the opportunity to come along to the Axedale Hall to take part in a Community Bush

Dance. It is a free event put on by the Council to assist in restoring morale in towns affected by the 2011 floods.

While it is a free event, tickets need to be booked through the Axedale Store as there is a limit on numbers attending. The Emu Creek Bush Band will be playing and calling the dances on the night.

Some members of the band were at our school today to teach us some bush dancing skills before the night. It would be great to see lots of school families supporting this event.

This week’s article is titled “10 ways children draw parents into sibling conflict.”

LAUGH OF THE WEEK

My neighbour knocked on my door at 2:30am this morning, can you believe that....2:30am?! Luckily for him

I was still up playing my Bagpipes.

I went to the cemetery yesterday to lay some flowers on a grave. As I was standing there I noticed 4 grave diggers walking about with a Coffin, 3 hours later and they're still walking about with it. I thought to myself, they've lost the plot!!

My daughter asked me for a pet spider for her birthday, so I went to our local pet shop and they were $70!!!

Blow that, I thought, I can get one cheaper off the web.

Statistically, 6 out of 7 dwarves are not Happy.

I start a new job in Seoul next week. I thought it was a good Korea move.

I was driving this morning when I saw an RACV van parked. The driver was sobbing uncontrollably and looked very miserable. I thought to myself 'that guy's heading for a breakdown.'
