1. Project Scope
1.1. Project Purpose
After consideration of available dates, February 10-12, 2012 was chosen by trusted servants of the Ohio Region &
Midwest Zonal Forum (MZF) membership to have the Ohio Region host the next MZF meeting and the bi-annual
Multi-Regional Workshop on the World Service Conference Agenda Report (CAR) & Conference Approval Track
(CAT). In addition, the MZF membership asked the Ohio Region to request Narcotics Anonymous World Services
(NAWS) participation to facilitate the Multi-Regional CAR/CAT Workshop. Participation from Regions bordering the
Ohio Region will be encouraged despite their differing Zonal affiliation.
The Midwest Zonal Forum was formed at the 1987 World Service Conference of Narcotics Anonymous with the intent
of facilitating communication between NA regions in the Midwest. Today, participating regions are Chicagoland,
Greater Illinois, Indiana, Metro-Detroit, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Upper Midwest and Wisconsin.
The Midwest Zonal Forum (MZF) meets quarterly at rotating locations throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan,
Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
NA’s Eighth Concept states, “Our service structure depends on the integrity and effectiveness of our
communications.” NA’s Ninth Concept states, “All elements of our service structure have the responsibility to
carefully consider all viewpoints in their decision-making processes.” The purpose of this project is to create an
environment for collaboration, fellowship, communication and learning between multiple entities in the NA service
structure throughout the Midwest.
1.2. Project Objective
The objective of this project is to develop & host, with cooperation & participation from the Midwest Zonal Forum,
the World Board and Narcotics Anonymous World Services, a 2-day workshop focusing on the 2012 World Service
Conference Agenda Report & Conference Approval Track. This will be accomplished in conjunction with the meeting
of the Midwest Zonal Forum which the Ohio Region is responsible for hosting in the 1st quarter of 2012.
1.3. Project Benefits


NA members and trusted servants will have the opportunity learn more about & prepare for the upcoming
2012 World Service Conference by discussing, asking questions, and sharing their knowledge &
understanding of the Fellowship issues presented in the Conference Agenda Report and Conference
Approval Track.
NA members and trusted servants from around the Midwest will have an opportunity to come together and
share, experience strength and hope.
1.4. Inclusions & Exclusions
Inclusions

ORSCNA is responsible for contracting a location for the Workshop & MZF meeting.

ORSCNA is responsible for marketing & promotion of the NAWS Workshop to Areas within the Ohio
Region, to members of the MZF, and to other Regions surrounding the Ohio Region despite their
differing zonal affiliation.

ORSCNA is responsible for coordinating the participation of various service bodies (e.g. ORSCNA, MZF,
NAWS, etc.) for this weekend-long event.

ORSCNA is responsible for planning and/or coordinating some form of social/recovery event on
Saturday evening (2/11/12).

ORSCNA will host some form of NA marketplace.

ORSCNA is responsible for hosting the MZF Quarterly Meeting.

ORSCNA will create, distribute and compile some form of feedback instrument for the event.
Exclusions

This is not a fundraiser for the Ohio Region.

ORSCNA is not responsible to plan the workshop content or make any presentations during the
workshop. That is the sole responsibility of NAWS.

ORSCNA is not responsible for transportation or lodging for any participants.

All meals and refreshments are the responsibility of the participants.

2. Project Impacts
2.1. Key Assumptions






It is the Ohio Region’s turn in the rotation to host the MZF slated for February 10-12, 2012.
This is a continuation of MZF’s effort to facilitate Multi-Regional CAR/CAT Workshops.
As host, ORSCNA will cover all expenses to facilitate this weekend-long event.
The MZF will provide some level of funding ($400) to offset expenses for the event.
The Regions of the MZF as well as all other Regions are welcome to participate in funding of the event.
The MZF has never required registration and never charged a registration fee.

Ballroom - set up with round tables of 10 to accommodate 200 with the Fremont
room as center, a standing podium in center front with an 8’ table (draped &
skirted) on either side, an 8’ table (draped & skirted) next to each door of the
Ballroom for hand-outs & flyers, and pitchers of ice water & stacks of plastic water
glasses on each round table.
Library 1 & 2 - in addition to the two large library tables, set up with two 6’ tables
(draped & skirted) under the window in Library 1; and with a small round table with
6 seats in center of the room and a 6’ table (draped & skirted) in Library 2 for
evening “marketplace”.
