GAUS HIGH RATE DISCHARGE TESTER
PR1000A12V/PR1500A12V
The Gaus High Rate Discharge Tester is particularly designed for testing the
cranking performance (cold and warm cranking) of automotive batteries. The
PR1000A(1500A)12V performs discharge tests with selectable current values in
accordance with all national and international test standards.
The PR1000A(1500A)12V contains one discharge circuit with integrated
microcomputer interface. Central control by means of a host computer of the AT type
with GBTS1.05 Software (Host Computer Type).

Guaranteed operation of the discharge circuit also in case of failure or interruption
of the host computer by down-loading the complete test program into the microcomputer
interface.
The PR1000A(1500A)12V with GBTS1.05 have been
designed as an integrated system, combining power
conversion, circuit control, computer control, data recording
and data reporting. As a result, this system meets most battery
testing needs: high reliability, complete functionality,
accuracy, ease of data recording, troubleshooting, numerous
data presentation formats, and easy maintenance. In this way
it provides increased laboratory efficiency and accuracy.
Additional ratings and options are continually added to
the product line. Furthermore, “GAUS StS” is also happy to
work with customers to provide special customisation options
where needed.
Operating Simplicity
Test initiation and control are via the mouse or
keyboard. After a program has been selected and the battery
connected, simply depress the START key to initiate the test
sequence. While discharging, the GBTS1.05 will display the
status of the test and the test results in graphical or columnar
form on the real time basis. It will show the mode of operation
(ready, connect battery, running, stopped, paused, error…) the program number, the step
number and the test parameters (amperes, volts, elapsed time...). The test may be stopped
and restarted at any point in the discharge.

Continuous duty, single cell operation
The Gaus High Rate Discharge Tester is particularly
designed for testing the cranking performance (cold and
warm cranking) of automotive batteries. The
PR2000A12V performs discharge tests with selectable
current values in accordance with all national and
international test standards.
The PR2000A12V contains one discharge circuit
with integrated microcomputer interface. Central control

GAUS UNIVERSAL BATTERY TESTER GUBT25/50A12V
The Gaus Universal Battery Tester GUBT is
particularly designed for testing automotive batteries. But it
may also be used for testing all other types of batteries, just by
setting the required current and voltage values. The GUBT
performs the functions “charge” and “discharge” with
selectable current values, as well as pause steps, repetition of
a test program as a whole or in parts (cycling) and the
registration of the measured data.
Many of the standardized test programs use the current
as nominal value. But voltage, power or resistance values may
be used as well. A program step may be terminated not only
after a specified time, but also when a certain voltage or an Ah
(or Wh) values is reached. For registration of the measured
values, intervals of time, voltage, amperhours, or energy
(Watt-hours) are suitable parameters.
Design and Function
In the standard version, 5 or 10 charge-discharge
circuits are combined in one cabinet with a common power
supply. Each circuit is provided with its own control unit and
the respective power unit. Three-phase AC ensures the mains
supply. GUBT25/50A12V can resolve the main power failure
problem and continue with testing automatically after that.
The programmable control unit is the core of each
charge-discharge circuit. It is a standalone microcomputer
system for a data logging and precise control of analogue measured values. It also
assumes the processing of stored test programs.
In the manual operating mode, it is possible to select one of the stored programs No
1-8, interrupt and terminate the program by pressing the respective button. Digital
instruments for battery voltage and current are fitted on the front panel.
Automatic operating mode is made via host computer with GBTS106 party line
host computer software.

The Programs
All tests programs can be split into steps, where certain operations must be
executed under well-defined conditions. Each step is fixed in a program line.
Each program step is divided into columns and each column has a headline
describing its function.
Column explanations:
Column: Label
Each program step can be labeled which is used for controlling of program
executing.
Column: Operation
Each program step starts with an operator determining the function of the test
circuit. The operator names are simple abbreviations of the respective functions (charge,
discharge, ramp, cycle, pause, stop).
Column: Set value
As nominal values for this step may be entered current, voltage or resistance of
power values.
Column: Term. condition
The termination values current, voltage, time, capacity, energy and temperature
determine the end of a program step and thus the beginning of the next program step. In
building of condition can be used logical operators AND, OR, NOT.
Column: Term. action
Possibilities for The Term. Action columns are:



GOTO label -transfers program control to the specified program step
NEXT
-goes to the next program step
STOP
-terminates program
Column: Abort condition
The values entered under this column may be the same as for the termination
values. However, in this case, the program run will be terminated if one of these limit
values is reached.
Column: Registration
The conditions for the registration are entered into the last column. These may be
time intervals or changes in current, voltage, capacity, energy or temperature.

INDUSTRIAL BATTERY TESTER GIBT
The Gaus Industrial Battery Tester GIBT is designed for testing of industrial
batteries in a way to meet any requirement, I. E. charge and discharge with freely
selectable current, pauses and repetition of a test procedure as a whole or in parts
(cycling) and the registration of the measured data. Testing is not limited to lead-acid
batteries, but it is possible to test all other types of electrochemical power sources.
Many of the standardized test programs use the current as nominal value. But
voltage, power or resistance values may be used as well. A program step may be
terminated not only after a specified time, but also when a certain voltage or Ah (or Wh)
values is reached. For registration of the measured values, interval of time, voltage,
amperhours, or energy (Watt-hours) are suitable parameters.
Each GIBT is provided with its own programmable control and power unit. The
power unit is alternatively made in transistor technique or designed as an inverter. For
smaller power requirements in the range of 100W to 5000W several charge-discharge
units are combined in one cabinet with a common power supply. Each circuit is provided
with its own programmable control and the respective transistor power assembly. GIBT

The discharge energy is converted into heat in power transistors and resistors. More
powerful units are designed as inverters and the energy is fed back to the mains.
The programmable control unit is the core of each circuit. It is a standalone
microcomputer system for a data logging and precise control of analogue measured
values. It also assumes the processing of stored test programs.
In the manual operating mode, it is possible to select one of the stored programs
No1-8, interrupt and terminate the program by pressing the respective button. Digital
instruments for battery voltage and current are fitted on the front panel.
Automatic operating mode is made via host computer with GBTS100 party line
host computer software.
The Programs
All tests programs can be split into steps, where certain operations must be
executed under well defined conditions. Each step is fixed in a program line.
Each program step is divided into columns and each column has a headline
describing its function.

GIBT200/300A12V je mikroprocesorki uređaj za laboratorijsko ispitivanje svih vrsta

GBTS106 is the latest generation of adaptable programmable party line software
from GAUS StS for Windows operating system written in Borland’s Delphi. It is
designed for battery plants with well-equipped laboratory’s with number of different test
units (but not necessary) and laboratories with the strongest requirements for efficiency
and accuracy. It means, for example, that you can connect a few GAUS formatting
(charging) system GFS20A100V, a few high rate discharge testers PR1000A12V, a few
PR600A12V/24V, universal battery tester GUBT25 with ten chargers and dischargers on
the same host computer... Then you can control all those units from one place, you can
program all those units, compare them, you can monitor all tests on real time base etc.
Also, you can combine graphics and tables from different tests, made under different

gives the numeric values for the data parameters on a real-time basis. It also illustrates
options such as cell voltages.

The Overall Status screen allows viewing the status of all circuits simultaneously. A
cursor can be moved to any circuit to access the module status screen for an individual
circuit or view the data file information for that circuit.
The program Menu is used to create programs, store and retrieve them from the
library, send a program to a module, or modify a program step and send it to the module
to be performed immediately.
The module microprocessor then runs the program, stores the data according to the
sample rate and on command, and transmits the data to the computer for storage in the
appropriate data file.

GAUS FORMATION SYSTEM GFS540A300V
GFS540A300V is unit for container formation of 12V lead-acid batteries (or
others) in branches with 15 batteries connected in chain, with controlled current from
thyristor-diode bridge. This powerful unit is designed for battery plants or big service
stations. GFS540A300V has capacity of simultaneous formation of 810 (eight hundred)
12V batteries Cn<100Ah, or 405 batteries with 100Ah<Cn<200Ah. Considering the
average formation time of 48h, this mean daily production of 400 batteries with
Cn<100Ah, or 200 batteries with 100Ah<Cn<200Ah. Basically, this unit is with manual
control, but it can be optionally upgraded with central monitoring system from GBTS105.
Battery Plant in Sombor “Black Horse” has 6 of those units installed since
1989.
Description
GFS540A300V has three parts: energy cabinet, cabinet with command tables and
operating platform. Three-phase power transformer (200kVA) with air cooling, main
switch with current and under voltage protection, fuses and energy installation, switches
for galvanic separation and selecting of modules, nine inducers and nine removable
modules with thyristor-diode bridges, shunts and corresponding electronics are in energy
cabinet. Those modules are identical (replaceable) and independent in separate boxes
with appropriate contact parts for connection with main cabinet. Each module can
regulate current between 0-60ADC with maximum output voltage of 300VDC (15
batteries in chain). Dimensions of energy cabinet are aprox. (WxHxD) 3000mm x
2500mm x 2000mm. On command tables fixed in command cabinet (each energetic
module has it’s own command table) You can select active branches for charging (from 1

The task of GFCS
The reliability of a starter battery is the most important quality feature. So, such
batteries are subject to an electrical load test after container formation. It is also essential
that during this test the energy discharged from the batteries must be minimized in order
to avoid an additional charge.
The concept of the GFCS results from these initial conditions. Immediately after
formation and, preferably, after cleaning the battery is discharged with a high current for
a few seconds and the voltage under load is determined. The actual value is compared
with the nominal one resulting in a “good-faulty” decision. A reasonable test sequence
covering 6 to 8 batteries per minute requires fast and precise power and data acquisition
electronics combined with mechanics of the same accuracy and reliability for transport
and positioning of the batteries as well as for positioning the test heads to the terminals.
Such properties are combined in the GFCS.

The Discharger PR600A12V is particularly
designed for testing the cranking performance (cold
and warm cranking) of automotive batteries. It was
developed to be the testing unit for service network
of some battery plant all around the country. It is
very efficient way for solving the problems during
the warranty time of battery (accepting or not) and
letter, for checking the used batteries (good or not
good). PR600A12V reduce time and costs for battery plant. The PR600A12V performs
discharge tests with selectable current values. The main characteristics of this unit are:

GAUS DISCHARGE TESTER PR800A12V
PR800A12V je mikroprocesorski uređaj za ispitivanje olovnih starterskih
akumulatora nominalnog napona 12V. Razvijen je kao posledica potrebe za malim,
prenosnim, jednostavnim za rukovanje, pouzdanim i relativno jeftinim uređajem za
servisiranje starterskih baterija. PR800A12V omogućava testiranje startne sposobnosti
baterije strujama do 800A u trajanju od nekoliko desetina sekundi. Pri tom se vrši
merenje i prikaz struje, napona, vremena, ispražnjenog kapaciteta u svakoj desetinki
(0.1sec) testa.Tok ispitivanja se može pratiti preko LCD displeja, rezultati se beleže u
“flash” memoriji uređaja, moguć je rad preko PC računara u realnom vremenu
korišćenjem odgovarajućeg softvera kao i naknadno isčitavanje rezultata iz memorije.
Softver GCDTS1.01 omogućava grafički i tabelarni prikaz rezultata, štampanje izveštaja,
upoređivanje testova, arhiviranje itd. Pražnjenje je kontrolisano (struja, napon, vreme,
temperatura) preko tranzistorsko otpornih grupa, dakle, disipativno. PR800A12V je
opremljen satom realnog vremena sa kalendarom i rezervnim baterijskim napajanjem,
velikom količinom memorije za smeštaj rezultata ispitivanja i u njemu su implementirane
brojne mere zaštite.
PR800A12V je napravljen u skladu sa zahtevima iz standarda EN 60335-1/194
(Safety of hosehold and similar electrical appliances – Part 1: General requirements),
odnosno Slovenačkog standarda SIST EN 60335-1, maj 1998. i ispunjava zahteve nisko
naponske direktive LVD 7323 EEC. Smešten je u plastificiranu čeličnu kutiju sa

gumenim nožicama i ručkom za nošenje. Sa prednje strane uređaja nalaze se LCD
displej, tri kontrolna tastera, glavni prekidač i konektor za serijsku komunikaciju sa
računarom. Priključci odvojivih energetskih kablova, BNC konektori za merne kablove i
mrežni priključak su sa zadnje strane uređaja. Predviđena je i mogućnost terenskog rada u
odsustvu mrežnog napajanja.
PR800A12V ima sledeće karakteristike:

tranzistorsko otporne grupe su dimenzionisane tako da za 10V na krajevima otpornika

GAUS CHARGER GC12/24V15A
GC12/24V15A (slika 1.) je automatski mikroprocesorski čoperski punjač
akumulatora, sa mogućnošću odabira nominalnog napona baterije. Namenjen je za
punjenje i održavanje baterija. To je punjač konstantnog napona sa strujnim
ograničenjem. To znači da napon na izlazu, odnosno priključenoj bateriji, dostiže strujom
koja ne prelazi struju limita, a po dostizanju postavljenog napona, struja pada kako se
baterije dopunjuju. Zahvaljujući naponskom limitu, moguće je vršiti punjenje bez
nadzora jer nema prepunjavanja (preko noći ili vikenda). Odlikuju ga jednostavnost
korišćenja, preciznost u održavanju postavljenih parametara punjenja, kao i veliki broj
implementiranih zaštitnih i kontrolnih funkcija.

Kako je uređaj mikroprocesorski, sa A/D konverzijom struje, napona, temperature
hladnjaka dioda, tranzistora i transformatora, po želji je moguće implementirati razne
algoritme rada. Moguća je izmena naponskih i strujnih limita, uslovljavanje karakteristike
punjenja, pauziranje, čekanje na događaj itd.
Energetski deo punjača čine mrežni monofazni transformator, diodni most sa
visoko-kvalitetnim elektrolitskim kondenzatorom (EPCOS-SIEMENS), DC-DC
konvertor buck tipa (spuštač napona Vo < Vi) sa energetskim MOSFET tranzistorom
(International Rectifier IR), ultra brzom diodom, zavojnicom (SIEMENS) i impulsno
širinskim PWM modulatorom. Frekvencija rada je 30kHz.

Punjač je smešten u plastificiranu čeličnu kutiju sa gumenim nožicama. Sa
prednje strane uređaja se nalaze glavni prekidač, start i stop tasteri, led indikacija i
troipocifarski LED digitalni instrumenti za struju i napon. Sa zadnje strane uređaja se
nalaze izvodi punjača, mrežni kabel, automatski osigurač u jednosmernom delu i kućište
sa topljivim osiguračem u mrežnom delu kola.
Gaus Charger GC12/24V15A ima sledeće zaštite:
1. zaštita od greške zamene polariteta priključaka (zvučna signalizacija,
onemogućen start)
2. nema varnice pri stavljanju ili skidanju (padu) klema
3. kontrolisano forsirano vazdušno hlađenje (opciono za veće struje)
4. kontrola minimalnog dozvoljenog napona priključene baterije (onemogućen
start za Ubatt<6V/12V – izmenljivo)
5. temperaturna zaštita na hladnjaku poluprovodničkih energetskih komponenti

7. u slučaju ispada mrežnog napajanja po njegovom ponovnom uspostavljanju
automatski se nastavlja punjenje sa ranije postavljenim parametrima

Karakteristika punjenja
Punjenje neopterećene akumulatorske baterije
Uvedimo sledeće oznake (slika 2.):
-PU punjač;
-AB akumulatorska baterija;
-Uo napon na krajevima AB pre početka punjenja;
-Um maksimalan napon punjenja 15.5V/31V
-Ud = 14.5V/29V maksimalan napon punjenja akumulatora manji od napona gasiranja;
-Imax = 15A;
-Imin = Imax/4 = 2.5A.
Ako je Uo manji od Um punjenje započinje "I" režimom. U ovom režimu PU
puni AB stalnom strujom 15A. Napon AB raste i u ovom režimu PU predaje
procentualno najveći deo kapaciteta AB (oko 80%). Ovaj režim se održava sve dok napon
na AB ne dostigne vrednost Um. Tada se prelazi u "Um" režim, odnosno režim
dopunjavanja AB. U ovom radnom režimu PU dopunjava AB održavajući stalan napon
na njenim krajevima na vrednosti Um, dok struja punjenja opada, kao posledica
dopunjavanja AB. Ovaj režim traje sve dok struja punjenja ne padne na vrednost Imin.
Po dostizanju Imin PU se privremeno zaustavlja (ostaje indikacija da je proces
punjenja u toku, ali ne ide struja). Čeka se da prirodnim putem napon baterije opadne na
vrednost Umin (opciona karakteristika). Potom PU prelazi u radni režim održavanja AB,
"Ud" režim. U ovom režimu PU održava AB u napunjenom stanju, održavajući napon na
krajevima AB na vrednosti Ud, a struja održavanja je različita od nule i uzima vrednost
određenu tipom i stanjem AB, koja kompenzuje samopražnjenje.

Kako je uređaj mikroprocesorski, sa merenjem struje, napona, temperature
hladnjaka dioda i transformatora, po želji je moguće implementirati razne
algoritme rada. Moguća je izmena naponskih i strujnih limita, uslovljavanje
karakteristike punjenja, pauziranje, čekanje na događaj (merenje Ah u punjenju),
uslovljavanje završetka punjenja, konekcija sa PC racunarom, prikaz grafika
punjenja i pražnjenja i štampanje istih, itd.
Zahvaljujući naponskom limitu, moguće je vršiti punjenje bez nadzora, jer nema
prepunjavanja (preko noći ili vikenda). Takođe, ukoliko u toku punjenja dođe do ispada
mrežnog napajanja, uređaj po njegovom povratku automatski nastavlja sa punjenjem sa
parametrima koji su bili pre ispada mreže. Pražnjenje je disipativno uz indikaciju struje,
napona, proteklog vremena i ispražnjenog kapaciteta. Preko LCD displeja sa 2x16
karaktera ispisuju se vrednosti struje, napona, vremena, kapaciteta, upozorenja,
nepravilnosti itd. Uređaj je smešten u plastificiranu čeličnu kutiju sa gumenim nožicama i
ručkom za nošenje. Sa prednje strane uređaja se nalaze glavni prekidač, start (scroll) i
stop (select) tasteri, prekidači C/D (Charge/Discharge) i R/S (Ready/Set), led diode, LCD
displej za indikaciju i konektor za konekciju sa PC računarom. Sa zadnje strane uređaja
su izvodi punjača i pražnjača (demontažni), mrežni kabel, automatski osigurač u
jednosmernom kolu punjača, kućište sa topljivim osiguračem u mrežnom delu kola i
držači za namotavanje kablova.
Uz software GCDTS v1.01 uređaj je moguće konektovati na PC računar preko
RS232 serijskog porta. Software nudi mogućnost prikaza grafika punjenja ili pražnjenja
akumulatora u realnom vremenu, mogućnost iščitavanja testa pražnjenja ili punjenja kada
uređaj nije bio povezan sa računarom, štampanje i čuvanje rezultata, formiranje izveštaja
i sl.
Otpornik za pražnjenje je dimenzionisan tako da pri naponu od 10V na njegovim
krajevima struja pražnjenja bude 250A (0.04Ohma). LCD displej i zvučna signalizacija
pomažu u operaciji pražnjenja putem štoperice i signala na svakih 5sec (moguće podesiti
željeni interval), kao i prikazom minimalnog dostignutog napona i krajnje struje. Posle
završene operacije pražnjenja moguće je izvršiti pregled rezultata koji sadrže kompletne
informacije o naponu, struji i kapacitetu za svaku proteklu sekundu u procesu pražnjenja.
Gaus Charge-Discharge Tester GCDT250A12V ima sledeće zaštite:

Strogo voditi računa o polartetu priključaka u punjenju! U slučaju greške, jedina

The Gaus Formation (charging) System GFS100V20A-PC is particularly
designed for charging automotive batteries (from one to six 12V batteries in chain). It
may also be used for charging all other types of batteries, just by setting the required
current values and voltage limit.

50Hz) end continues with charging after main power failure restore.

GAUS TRACTION BATTERY MONITOR
Gaus Traction Battery Monitor (GTBM) is suited for displaying current state of traction
battery and long-term tracking of its use.
 GTBM displays current battery charge/discharge
level on 8-level LED panel in 10 different positions steady light of one LED and flashy light of
uppermost LED (maximal recommended charge
level) or most lower LED (minimal recommended
discharge level).
 GTBM controls lift of forklifter with relay, which
can enable or disable the lift. In case of battery voltage dropping below minimal
recommended level, then relay disables lift and forklifter’s battery has to be
recharged. After the charging of battery, lift is enabled again.
 GTBM tracks battery voltage and records in its permanent memory every case
that is out of recommended area (overcharging and deep discharging) for some
period of time (15 min).
 GTBM detects charging time (important fact in maintenance of battery capacity),
connection to high voltage (in case of connecting GTBM on wrong battery) and
accurate time within GTBM was
disconnected from the battery.
 In case of eventual complaint
GTBM gives you all information
about misuse of battery (GTBM
software).
 GTBM is based on:
microcontroller (CPU, battery voltage measurement, data recording, RTC
read/write, LED panel control, relay control, PC communication), permanent
memory (E2PROM, for data storage), real time clock/calendar (separate battery
power supply), power supply (enables connection to the batteries in range 1280V), relay (enable/disable the lift).
 GTBM accomplishes its functions only if
there is permanency in power supply
from traction battery. If there is standstill
longer than 15 minutes, then GTBM
records it in its memory.
 GTBM can be set for next battery
voltages: 12V, 24V, 36V, 40V, 48V,
60V, 72V, 80V. Current consumption is
10-30mA.
 GTBM is waterproof in according to IP-65 standard and is suited for industrial
temperature range [-25°C,+85°C].

Zahvaljujući primenjenom algoritmu kompresije, u memoriji GTBCM-a je moguće

Gaus Battery Keeper GBK2x12V1A is designed
for equalizing voltage of two batteries, which are charging
in serial connection (trucks,
busses etc.). Charging in
rows (serial connection) is

grows during charge. One of batteries is overcharging and

dozvoljava nepravilnu upotrebu. Uređaj ne dozvoljava duboko pražnjenje baterije i vrši njeno
kontrolisano dopunjavanje. Postoji i mogućnost softverskog obaranja sistema za PC računar
preko RS232 serijskog porta.
U modu CHARGE moguće je vršiti kontrolisano punjenje akumulatora izborom
odgovarajućeg kapaciteta u Ah (dopunjavanje, 30/60/90/120/150Ah+dopunjavanje). Punjenje se
odvija kombinovanjem četiri faze (automatski-faza intenzivog punjenja sa većim strujnim
pragovima, faza intenzivog punjenja sa nižim strujnim pragovima, faza dopunjavanja i faza
održavanja), naponski, strujno, vremenski i kapacitivno je kontrolisano i implementirane su
brojne mere zaštite. Kako je uređaj mikroprocesorski, sa merenjem struje, napona, temperature
hladnjaka tranzistora i transformatora, po želji je moguće implementirati razne algoritme rada.
Moguća je izmena naponskih i strujnih limita, uslovljavanje karakteristike punjenja, pauziranje,
čekanje na događaj (merenje Ah u punjenju i invertorskom režimu), uslovljavanje završetka
punjenja, konekcija sa PC računarom, prikaz grafika punjenja i pražnjenja (invertorski režim) i
štampanje istih, itd. Zahvaljujući naponskom limitu, moguće je vršiti punjenje bez nadzora, jer
nema prepunjavanja (preko noći ili vikenda). Takođe, ukoliko u toku punjenja dođe do ispada
mrežnog napajanja, uređaj po njegovom povratku automatski nastavlja punjenje sa parametrima
koji su bili pre ispada mreže.
Uređaj je smešten u plastificiranu čeličnu kutiju sa gumenim nožicama i ručkom za
nošenje. Sa prednje strane uređaja se nalaze glavni prekidač, start i stop (scroll) tasteri, prekidač
CHARGER/UPS, led diode (UPS, CHARGER, TEMP. ALARM, INVERTER, OVERLOAD,
LOW BATTERY, MAINS, Capacity Ah), utičnica sa poklopcem za priključenje potrošača i
konektor za konekciju sa PC računarom. Sa zadnje strane uređaja su izvodi punjača (za
priključenje akumulatora), mrežni kabel, automatski osigurač u jednosmernom kolu punjača

SUMMARY
This project is about device for measuring
transitional resistance between contacts of
disconnectors, switch disconnectors and
circuit breakers in transformer stations.
Device is developed for and is especially
useful during the transformer stations
periodical checking when electrical power is
completely disconnected (manual mode).
Besides measuring transitional resistance, device can be
used for thermal
relays checking in transformer stations. Device is supplied by electrical power from
automotive lead-acid battery 12V= (Cn≥55Ah ). Setting of working parameters
(reprogramming of stored programs) and data
acquisition can be done by computer to which
device have to be connected with special
