Sonia asked the CF about gaining funding for a small contract to look at food security needs of community. Their community fund is very low right now, so the GWFRT would likely get a grant to a maximum of a few thousand dollars. We would have a stronger application if we have multiple sources of funding We may have to pursue different options to fund this Update on Healthy Communities Grant application for a coordinator of the GWFRT. The application is now onto the screening stage, and they will hear back in July about the application. Heather shared with the group that Hellman’s is offering a “Real Food” Grant Program which has $100,000 available for food related programs. To apply you must answer 6 short essay questions by June 30. The range of the grants available is $500-$10,000. Updates Collective Kitchen Manual Carleen reviewed the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority collective kitchen manual and felt that it was a really good manual in its entirety. The format may be very close to what we are looking for. Food Access Guide Lynne will revise table and email to Bethany who will distribute to FAC. Carleen will send the manual to Sonia who will pass it on to the person developing our own collective kitchen manual. Group members felt that the Food Access Guide was very helpful. In the future, the guide should be expanded to include the county. Naomi of the Community Resource Centre may be able to pull together that information.
