NATURE OF WORK:
This is professional generalist work in the human resources office involving a concentration on
the employment activities. The position will also provide assistance in other functional areas of
the human resources office. These functions include, but are not limited to full cycle
recruitment, maintaining human resources data, hiring and termination activities, performance
management, special project implementation, and some personnel program and training
initiatives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:







Initiates and completes the search administrative process for faculty and staff. Submits
information to eTerp for approvals, and is the liaison for search committee and the
applicants during the search process. *
Assists the Libraries HR Director in developing personnel programs, developing and
tracking the strategic initiatives; assists with the conceptualization, planning, and
implementation of internal programs and activities to meet employee needs.*
Acts as the Lead Generalist, responsible for training of other office staff and as back-up
on personnel matters in the absence of the Director.*
Collects and tracks data related to personnel actions and activities and prepares reports
on a monthly and quarterly basis regarding recruitment and hiring, employee
demographics, termination, and FMLA. Captures data on the recruitment cycle for
purposes of analysis and identifying future strategies to improve the internal process.*
Collaborate with managers on hiring needs and training needs of staff; on-boards and
provides orientation to new employees.* 75%
Administer employee benefits; communicate with employees and advise on annual
enrollment, working with the service providers; administer FMLA and manage workers’
compensation claims.*
Monitor the performance assessment program for the Libraries, ensuring that employees
and managers are trained in the program; maintain and complete report for the
Libraries and campus.*







Maintain the HRIS system (ARS & PHR); ensure that employee data and HR records are
captured correctly including benefit selections, salary adjustments, employee
demographic updates, etc.*
Ensure that programs and policies are documented and receive a legal review prior to
implementation; ensure managers and employees comply with programs and policies.*
Perform work in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations such as EEO, FLSA,
ADA, ERISA, FMLA, OSHA, etc.*
Leads the process (new and renewals) of contracts for non-exempt, exempt, and faculty
contracts.* 15%
Monitors the probationary process for new hires.*
Responsible for coordinating and scheduling the placement follow-up and exit interview
process for exempt and non-exempt staff.
Performs other duties, as assigned. 10%

QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, skills, and abilities):




Knowledge of HR laws, practices and industry standards.
Ability to research HR related topics.
Must possess in-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. Must have an
attention to detail and be able to manage multiple priorities.
Must have strong PC skills. Must have skills in working with HRIS systems; must be able to
enter, extract and analyze data from the system.
EDUCATION:
Required – Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred – Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE (Be specific, indicate the minimum years of experience and
skills needed):
Required – A minimum of five (5) years for human resources experience and
intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred – PHR Certification, experience with a human resources database system.
Experience in a human resources office in a higher education environment.
