Individual colleges may decide to add a new course combining both in the future Laney’s enrollments are strong; at other colleges enrollments vary, with students often using all four campuses to meet their goals. Reviewing possibility of Accounting Club as a collaborative effort among the colleges to help retention. Tutoring programs available at Laney and COA. Merritt has no funding for this service. Textbooks not standardized across campuses. Current course description versus proposed revision Shirley Fogarino presented her rationale for the suggested changes. Overall agreement on content of course; suggestions made for instructors to update their syllabi. Overall Timeline As soon as possible Merritt faculty and department chair to continue to solicit Dean for Accounting Tutor Support Merritt faculty, department chair, and dean Ongoing Rewrite proposed by Ron Jones and Mike Wirth. Degree Completion Degree Discussion Getting a Better Idea of our success rate SB 1440, CSU transfer degrees; C-ID Each college provided best available numbers. Average over past three years: Laney Degrees: 55 Certificates: 60 Merritt Degrees: 38 Certificates: 5 Alameda Graduates: 52 Enrollment: 1273 Berkeley Degrees: 10 Certificates: 4 Each campus has a different focus for their programs and different challenges. Merritt: No evening support to offer evening classes for workers who want to update Business skills. Berkeley: Many Cal students take one or two classes. Workers in Berkeley often take only one or two classes to upgrade skills. All campuses: More students with Bachelor’s in other fields returning to get business classes to get jobs; no need for degrees or transfer. Variety of business classes are a good example of meeting each college community’s different needs in the area of CTE. Will report out key issues to District Committee: Retention; scheduling decisions; clubs; tutoring; alumni numbers as BI tool; community service. This is considered a very effective committee and the energy seems to keep going. Kudos to Anna Beavers, Jayne Matthews, and Gary Perkins for following through and leading the process. No meeting staff development week. Proposed agenda items for 2/4/11 Scheduling courses to ensure least amount of overlap (semesters, days, times) BUS 70 Course Description Mapping and comparison of degrees and certificates at all colleges (majors and specializations) Issues to consider: Who offers what and where?
