Adjectives that Compare
o You can use adjectives to compare nouns.
 Add –er to an adjective to compare two nouns.
 Add –est to compare more than two nouns.
o Some adjectives change their spelling when –er or –est is added.
 When the adjective ends in a consonant sound and y, change the y to i and add –er or
–est.
 When the adjective ends in e, drop the e and add –er or –est.
 For adjectives that have a single vowel before a final consonant, double the final
consonant and add –er or –est.
