POSITION DESCRIPTION – ACCOUNTANT

POSITION PURPOSE & DESCRIPTION: To provide professional and timely accounting and operations support to the territory, on all matters
relating to Property and Social accounts to achieve the mission of The Salvation Army. This role is the primary financial support function for
the Salvation Army International Development (SAID) office. Main responsibilities are to service the board as it manages the $6m budget and
allocates income against approved projects.
This position requires active engagement with a range of internal and external parties, and a sound understanding of the business/financial
environment. This position is required to lead and implement business improvement initiatives and systems to ensure the efficient collation
and distribution of business data in line with appropriate reporting standards.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS &
QUALIFICATIONS:

An understanding, empathy, appreciation and the ability to promote the values and ethos
of The Salvation Army.

Tertiary qualified or studying towards a relevant qualification

Training towards an associate membership of the CA/CPA

Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Tax/GST legislation/accounting
standards

Commitment to quality, customer service and continuous improvement
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS &
QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in the use of Finance One

Empathy with the mission and ministry aspects of The Salvation Army
SKILLS & BEHAVIOURS:

Demonstrated skills in database management

Skills in General Ledger reconciliations with an eye for detail

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation

Ability to meet strict deadlines

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

Proficiency working with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel


3+ years experience as an accounting officer role or similar would be highly regarded
