Spiral Notebook Flash Drive – 1 GB or larger. Course Description: This course is designed to provide an introduction to information technology concepts and careers as well as the impact information technology has on the world, people, and industry and basic web design concepts. The content includes information technology career research; operating systems and software applications; electronic communications including e-mail and Internet services; basic HTML, DHTML, and XML web commands and design; emerging technologies, and Web page design. If taken as part of the Information Technology program (8207300), after successful completion of this course, students will have met Occupational Completion Point A, Information Technology Assistant, SOC Code 15-1041. Course Objectives Enhancing Keyboarding skills (Necessary to keep up with course pace). Introduction to Computer components and emerging technology. To introduce the students to Microsoft Office products. 1. To develop the student’s ability to use word-processing software. 2. To develop the student’s ability to use spreadsheets. 3. To develop the student’s ability to use databases. 4. To develop the student’s ability to use presentation graphics. Introduction to Cyber Security and network infrastructure and related careers. Course Standards: This course will uphold the National, Sunshine State, and Lake County Public Schools standards. These will be available upon request. Attendance/Tardy Policy: Please refer to the student code of conduct for all attendance and tardy policies and procedures. The student code of conduct will govern all decisions concerning these policies. I will uphold the tardy Policy. DO NOT BE LATE! Make-up Work: The student must complete all make-up work within five days after the student returns to school. It is the student’s responsibility to make up all work missed, and it is the responsibility of the student to go to the teacher to obtain it at an appropriate time. It is recommended that students check with the teacher about any upcoming assignments before leaving school for a known or expected absence. The instructor reserves the right to give more time in cases of extenuating circumstances. Tutoring provided 2:40-3:30 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday after school. Academic Integrity Policy: Students are expected to uphold the school’s standard of conduct relating to academic honesty. Students assume full responsibility for the content and integrity of the academic work they submit. Any student found to be in violation of the honor code is subject to a failing grade along with the parent contacted.
