Position Description VERMONT CHILD CARE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM (VCCAP) SEEKS PROGRAM COORDINATOR DECEMBER 2, 2003 GENERAL FUNCTION Under the guidance of the VCCAP board president (or designee) the coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring all functions of the Vermont Child Care Apprenticeship Program. This position is also responsible to seek funding to support program operations. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of a BA/BS in education or related field. Three years of administrative experience and demonstrated ability/experience in grant writing. Ability to relate in a professional manner to program apprentices, supervisors, sponsors, board members, staff and community members. Ability to provide strong leadership and the skill to work successfully as part of a team. Ability to define problems and solve with limited direction. JOB SEGMENTS *Provide leadership for board/committee development, as well as plan, coordinate and conduct regular meetings. *Provide written report of monthly activities to the all board members and assistant coordinator. *Conduct on-site technical assistance and support visits to sponsors, apprentices and supervisors. *Provide leadership in developing, implementing and coordinating VCCICC sponsored courses with Professional Preparation and Development Committee of The Early Childhood Workgroup, the Child Care Services Division of the State of Vermont, Community College of Vermont and other colleges. *Recruit, hire, train and support course instructors in coordination with VCCICC and CCV. *Review, refine and implement Apprenticeship Program policies and procedures. *Supervise, evaluate and coordinate program administration with other contracted services (Assistant Coordinator, Accountant). *Research, prepare, review, write and monitor grants and grant reports. *Assure a system of financial management and endowment development is in place and provide oversight. *Coordinate, plan and participate in VCCAP public awareness activities to support program expansion. *Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies, businesses, and state and federal agencies. *Attend appropriate meetings outside of VCCAP to further serve the VT Child Care Apprenticeship Program and the child care profession. *Research, consult and advise on the viability of VCCAP becoming a partner with an existing organization. *Perform other duties related to the operation of the VT Child Care Apprenticeship Program as deemed necessary by the executive committee. TIME REQUIREMENTS This position is a contracted position. The annual salary of $30,000 is based on providing a minimum of 30 hours per week of service. Occasional weekend and evening hours required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS This position is heavily weighted on human relations. The incumbent must be able to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other contracted staff, board members, program participants and the general public. He/she must have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. He/she must have the ability to meet deadlines, delegate effectively and demonstrate a commitment to professional development. *Home computer with word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail and internet capability. *Fax machine and telephone. *Dependable transportation *1-4 days per month (or as needed) work in Waterbury .
