What you have not found from our research, you must make up.
Use your creativity to make your character come alive. Think about
what their life must have been like. Do they have dreams, hopes,
heartaches? Make sure to make your character as historically
accurate as possible and have fun! Due Monday




Fort Ross Jobs
Militia
As the Fort Ross military contingent, you are responsible for the defense and
safety of the Fort as well as the maintenance of order among the
inhabitants. The fort is strongly guarded so you must be attentive at all
times. The militia is responsible for assuring that each individual has
authorization (a pass) to be at the fort and for the care and maintenance of
the fort’s weapons. In addition, the militia is responsible building and
maintaining any fires made at the fort, bringing water for cooking, making
rope, and fishing if needed.
Gardeners/Artisans
One of the main objectives in establishing the Ross Colony was to grow food
to feed the Alaskan settlements. As a gardener, you are responsible for
planting, caring for and gathering food from the garden. You must be expert
in both Russian and native Californian plants. In addition, you are skilled
artisans who were blacksmiths, carpenters, metal smiths. As an artisan, you
will supply the manufactured goods used at Ross. You learn to use the
historical tools and materials to produce a project. You will also responsible
for the maintenance and manufacture of the equipment used at the fort.
Cooks
As cooks, you are responsible for the Fort Ross kitchen and the preparation
of the meals for the inhabitants. You will be cooking outside on open fires
which may be an new and exciting challenge. Your job includes
maintenance of the kitchen and all cooking materials. You must be
organized, timely and hardworking.
