STUDENT TEACHING)
Provisions of Nevada School Law, Nevada Constitution and U.S. Constitution may be
satisfied by achieving a minimum score of 70% on State approved exams (see

All students must take and pass the Praxis I prior to completing 12 credit hours in the program AND all
students must take the Praxis II prior to student teaching.

6. File a Program of Study with the Graduate College prior to completion of 16 hours in the program, notify the
department secretary the semester before you plan to take your comprehensive examination to complete so the
necessary paperwork. The ultimate responsibility lies with the student to complete all paperwork on time.

STUDENT TEACHING in your classroom will be allowed:
•If you are a licensed teacher (elementary, secondary, special education, early childhood
education) and you have moved into a special education classroom (Resource Room, selfcontained, or early childhood special education), AND
• You have completed all of the required classes for licensure in the area in which you are
teaching (e.g., autism, ID, Generalist), AND
•You have taken the PRAXIS II for Special Education General Knowledge and you have
taken the Principles of Learning and Teaching for the grade level you are teaching (K-6 or 7-12),
AND
•You provide to your advisor your most current CCSD evaluation from your principal. It
must be a satisfactory evaluation, AND
•You must sign up for EDSP 491 Student Teaching and EDSP 492 Student Teaching
Seminar and attend the seminar once a week, AND
•We will supervise you over the course of a 16-week semester.
STUDENT TEACHING for initial licensure:
•If you do not possess a teaching license, you must do traditional student teaching. This
involves being placed in a classroom with a master teacher for 16 weeks.
