application to problems and situations common to business operations.

Final Exam: A take-home essay exam will be given. The question(s) will require the student to
have read and understood the supplemental text, China, Inc.
How Course Fits Into Curriculum: A core course for students majoring in business, and
should be taken in the term following taking the Capstone I (BMGT 4380). Prerequisite is
completion of all other business core, senior standing and permission of the instructor.
Attendance and Participation: Regular attendance is essential for success in this class.
Classes will start on time and you should arrive promptly and prepare to participate fully for the
entirety of the class. All cell phones; pagers etc. should be turned off. If for any reason you
arrive late, you should come in quietly and catch up as quickly as possible with minimal
disruption.
Advance notice of absence should be discussed with the instructor. In the event you should miss
a class, you are responsible for the material and assignments covered during your absence.
If you miss one or two classes, your “class participation” grade will be lowered by 5% or
10% respectively. However, after two missed classes the student’s final grade will be
lowered one letter grade for each additional class missed. For example, if a student has a
final average of “A-“but has missed three classes, they will receive a “B-“.
Students are expected to read and complete assignments prior to class and to participate in
class/group exercises and class discussions. The primary methodology will be group work,
discussions, presentations and written reports. The class is highly participative. The class
instruction is collaborative and experimental rather than primary lecture.
