THE GIFT
Part 1
The Gift of Thanksgiving
Luke 17:11-19 – “Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along
the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a
village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance 13
and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
14
When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.”
And as they went, they were cleansed.
15
One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising
God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked
him—and he was a Samaritan.
17
Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other
nine? 18 Has no one returned to give praise to God except this
foreigner?” 19 Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made
you well.”
SEPARATED
Vs. 13 – “They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice,
“Jesus, Master, have pity (mercy) on us!”
HELPLESS
Romans 5:6 – “You see, at just the right time, when we were still
powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.”
Vs. 14 – “When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the
priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.”
The greatest miracles are witnessed in the midst of faith and action.
James 2:17 – “…faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is
dead.”
HIS RETURN
Vs. 15 – “One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back…”
Luke 10:38-42 – “As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he
came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to
him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet
listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the
preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord,
don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself?
Tell her to help me!”
41
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset
about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.
Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from
her.”
HIS REJOICING
Vs. 15-16 – “praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at
Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.”
Worship attracts the attention of God!!
So often, we cry for help in a loud voice, but worship quietly!
HIS RESTORATION
Vs. 19 – “Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you
well.”
Worship is supernatural!
It ignites passion.
It inspires gratitude.
It imparts His presence.
Vs. 19 (AMP) – “And He said to him, Get up and go on your way.
Your faith (your trust and confidence that spring from your belief in
God) has restored you to health.”
