Safety In a Science Classroom Task Card Introduction: Big Idea: A science laboratory can and should be a safe place to perform an experiment. Accidents can be prevented if you use good judgment, observe safety rules, and follow directions. Essential Focus QuestionIf there is an accident in your lab, would you be able to identify proper safety symbols and rules? To complete this activity you will work with a team of peers. As a team, you will analyze proper safety procedures and identify lab safety symbols used in a science lab. Task: You will be assigned a role. Assist teammates in preparation for assigned task. You should share information with your teammates to answer any questions you might have as you progress through this activity. Use your information from this activity and create a safety flyer as your final product. Process: 1. Your team will become familiar with safety rules and symbols. You will view lab safety PowerPoint. 2. Your team will read Bikini Bottom Lab Safety scenario and find the broken safety rules. Highlight the broken safety rules. 3. Your team will design a flyer using the saved MS Word template. You will include photos and graphics in the flyer. Utilize the product rubric as a guide to create your flyer.
