Word Project 1 - Lab Test B
Modifying a Flyer
Purpose: To demonstrate your ability to modify a publicity flyer by formatting text,
importing from the Internet, resizing a picture, spell checking, saving, and printing.
Problem: As publicity chairman of the Centerville Old Auto Club, you have been asked
by club members to use your word processing skills to modify an existing flyer to
promote an upcoming car show.
Instructions: Start Word, and open the file Word Project 1 – Lab Test B – by clicking
on link from my website. Use the guidelines below to modify the flyer. You are to
format this file by making the changes listed below.
Perform the following tasks:

Center the first title line, italicize it, change its font to Times New Roman, and
change its font size to 20.
Bold and center the second title line, change its font to Times New Roman and its
font size to 36.
Change the date in the third title line from Saturday July 26, 1997 to Saturday July
25, 1998. Change its font to Times New Roman and its font size to 20. Center
and italicize this line. Find the next occurrence of the date and change it.
Import the picture COAC.GIF beneath the date line. The picture can be found in a
location provided by your instructor. Change its height to 3 inches and width to
4.5 inches. Position the picture 0.7 inches from the margin. (don’t forget to turn
the aspect ratio off).
Add bullets to the first four paragraphs underneath the picture. They begin with
the words The Centerville Old Auto Club, The show begins, Join the fun, and
Proceeds from the show. Change the font of all four paragraphs to Arial and the
font size to 12.
Center and bold the sentence which begins “Admission is” and underline the word
“free”. Change the font to Times New Roman and change the font size to 20.
Center the last line, which contains the words “For more information call 5551212”. Change its font to Times New Roman and its font size to 14. Bold the
telephone number.
Check the spelling of the flyer.
Near the bottom of the document, type your name and course identification
separated by commas.
Save the flyer with the filename Lab Test B – Word Project 1 in your G: drive
